France borders the Netherlands directly on Saint Martin/Sint Maarten. Oddly, it's the Dutch side that's party town.

I think it means the COUNTRY of the Netherlands not the KINGDOM of the Netherlands.

I guess so, otherwise "UK" would also be a valid answer (Gibraltar>Spain>France)

Why is that odd?

Spain also borders Morocco through the cities of Ceuta and Melila.

It's past time that French Guiana was granted its independence.

^ Have you asked them if they want it?

They don't. There's very little support for independence in French Guiana.

In fact, I bet a lot of countries that gained independence from France would love to rejoin if offered.

Not Algeria though.

Such as the UK for example

French Guiana being part of France and placed closer to the equator than anywhere in Europe allows the European Space Agency to have a very useful launch site. It accounts for about 18% of the region's GDP and so they are unlikely to just give that up.

I know these wouldn’t be put as normal answers, but could you put a little bonus section with UK (Gibraltar through Spain) and Morocco (Ceuta and Mellila also through Spain)

They would be on any other quiz, especially if we’re using French Guiana to make a connection with South America. Spain has land borders with both the UK and Morocco, so should be included.

technically, france could be an answer too ;)

Technically every country that borders France directly, is also 2 borders away. Like Spain>Andorra>France for instance

Not Monaco!

Why not? France>MediterraneanSea>Monaco

If a border with water counted, then every country that is not landlocked would have to appear on this quiz...

Why doesn't this quiz accept Czechia as well as Czech Republic?

Add it to the caveat with Saint Martin, Ceuta and Melilla are disputed.

No need to weigh the quiz down with extra caveats.

Yeah, I understand that, a simple quiz should have simple caveats.

Netherlands shouldn't be in the list. Saint Martin island is shared with France. Saw someone pointed it out and another user made it clear; but it should be at least the same way Morocco is (which, btw, Morocco shouldn't have that interrogation mark).

Whether to classify autonomous cities as a territory or an integral part of a country? That is the question.

They aren't territories (like Gibraltar), they are integral parts of the country (like French Guiana). That is the answer.

The countries by borders quiz includes the Spanish/Moroccan border, so I think it has a decent bit of precedence. That's unlike the Spain/Gibraltar border, which is hardly ever present on Jetpunk.

Quick reminder that all of the Spanish regions are classified as "autonomous communities".
