You mean it isn't even Iron Man? It's something else that I know even less about? Is it Koo Stark? How am I supposed to know??

@mostestomtom, I seriously doubt that. But popular yes, one of those things you hear about even if you havent seen it yourself (like harry potter)

Is Winterfell not in Westeros? I don't know I don't watch that show.

Westeros is like a continent. Comparable to middleage Europe. While it starts with W it's not quite correct as an answer.

Westeros is a thinly veiled caricature of the British Isles

Westeros is the only name I remembered from hearing my children discuss the show. I tried watching one episode but it's just too brutal for me.

The Grinch is from a classic children's book, and Batman comics have been around since the 1930s (or thereabouts). You have no excuse to not know these, no matter what your age or exposure to "pop culture."

Your heart needs to grow 3 sizes.

Unless, of course, you were thinking of the Jim Carrey movie. I'd go into every house in Whoville and burn the DVD in the town square.

That reference to the Stark family sent me down a different rabbit hole: the principal character (based on Huey Long) in "All the Kings Men." And since Long was born in Winnfield, Louisiana, in Winn Parish, I thought that's what you were looking for. Completely wrong, of course.

I admit not knowing Batman, but knew enough to reason it out. After trying all sorts of manor, mansion, etc it dawned on me -- I should be using the name Bruce Wayne, not Adam West.

I care. It's unfair to have very specific questions about one country but not the others. Pretty much no one outside the US would know about some pond in the middle of nowhere or some random LA neighborhood.

Level 69

Walden pond is not just "a pond in the middle of nowhere". Even Astrid Lindgren mentions it in at least two of her books, that's how I learned it. Next time Thoreau and Walden came up in high school philosophy class. So I guess everyone should have heard the name.

Everybody should have heard of it because it is in 2 books of all the billions and billions of books out there, right. Flawless argument. If it was about books that were mandatory to read in every school in the world, it would be a different story.

Many languages simply don't use the letter W. Thus, the number of possible (real) locations is largely limited to countries where English, German, Polish or Mandarin is spoken. So, in this case, using mostly American questions is perfectly justified.

Level 88

It's always justified. It's an American guy's website for his own love of trivia. He can have a website that favors things he's familiar and comfortable with and not have to worry about people whining at him about his own familiarities.

Which languages do not use the w? (of the ones using a true alphabet, so with seperate letters for consonants and vowels, and not ideographs, pictographs. logographs or something)

I highly doubt germany and poland are the only countries in europe that use the W ... (ok I see you say the language ok, well add austria and switzerland... the point is the same unless you think everybody in europe speaks german)

Maybe Jetpunk is just mostly American?! If you are not from the UK, Ireland or any other English speaking country than the USA, you should check out the quizzes in other languages. Otherwise, you will have to deal with the fact, that there are many quizzes strongly americanized, as I do, because I'm from Germany.....
