Sceptical on Okayama. 600k max, will be interesting to see what is included. Have visited the city multiple times so can't see where this figure comes from.
Maybe you can e-mail the people at citypopulation.de? Its not easy to make consistent data for all world cities, but they do the best job of anyone. Different countries have different standards for what constitutes a metro area, so relying on the data from the various countries is bound to create inconsistencies. I trust citypopulation.de more than any other source.
Yeah, I don't know. Take a look at the maps of some their agglomerations: Freakishly riddled with holes and consisting of scores of disconnected pieces, having little resemblance to what I would consider a city.
Something is screwy about citypopulation's numbers for Okayama. The entire prefecture (province) of Okayama contains great swathes of countryside, but contains only 1.92 million people, so goodness knows how much of neighboring provinces they've included as well to get the number up to 2.20 million.
Yup, you've got to deal with the data from your source. Nothing else for a quizmaker to do. But I stayed in Okayama for a night last summer, travelled in and out by train, arriving downtown, which gives a pretty good indication of the size of the greater urban area. Walked around downtown - frankly the whole length of it - and it was hardly taxing. I was surprised when I saw the city listed with a population of 600,000, since that's almost identical to my hometown (Winnipeg). Allowing for higher residential residencies in Japan than Canada, I was still really skeptical of the 600k number, let alone this one. Okayama's not like, say, Kobe either, in that it would all depend where you would draw the border. So, who knows how the fine folks at your source have come up with the number.
I bet Nagoya only has as many people that guessed it as it did (26% as of my first attempt) because of the winter Olympics in '98? Didn't think of it until after saw it on the list.
Ryiad doesn't usually work on JetPunk, but Riyad (without the H) does. Although it didn't on this one, for some reason... Could you make it consistent with all other quizzes, QM? Thanks!
Lmao 40% of quiz takers just memorized every capital of the world, in which case the answer becomes evident. The fact that you refuse to believe this won't make it less true though.
Most people that take these quizzes take them with a lot of prior knowledge. People that don't know any wouldn't ever take this quiz. That's why 40% would know Ouagadougou.
Hey guys, Okayama resident here, not sure what the population was here in 2016, but the prefecture's is just around 2 million in 2021. The city itself is just shy of 700k, but this quiz does clearly say "urban area," and if Tokyo is allowed to include almost every prefecture surrounding it to get 40 million, then I don't see anything wrong with Okayama's case.
For the M in Spain... I didn't get it.....
So that was very easy for me
