I need more of these types of quizzes. Fairly simple and makes you think a bit

Aren't "Fairly Simple" and "Makes you think a bit" opposites?
+33
Level 61

No. The quiz can be both. It's simple in the sense that there aren't many countries to choose from but it makes you think by filtering through said countries.

25% of the population lives in the Asian part, and I'd be willing to bet that it has less than a quarter of the economic output.

@Nickelz It doesn't, but in a quiz about the largest economies in Asia you can understand why it was excluded

@CringeDragon. So if 75% of Turkey's economic output was located on the tiny European part across the bosporus would it then make Turkey a European country? Isn't this more a question about geography rather than demographics...?

It shouldn't be. It's transcontinental and should be treated as such.

Sure, I agree. But Asian Russia definitely doesn't reach this list without European Russia, so the point is moot.
+2
Level 75
Sep 15, 2020
No, it's just that they count the European part in Europe and the Asian part in Asia. Russia's Asian part isn't doing as well as Taiwan apparently.

eurasia, its more focused on moscow where the europen side of russia is, and its history, where it all began, and sttuff. so its mainly europe.

PPP is a stupid thing to use for a list like this. When the cost of living in a country is lower it doesn't make its economy "bigger".
+13

Jan 21, 2018
Sure it does. If country A can produce twice as much as country B, then its economy is bigger.

If those things are of lower quality and sell for less, bringing in less capital to country A, it's not that simple

Asia, on every countries quiz I know about. When it's a quiz about cities, Istanbul might be counted as a European city.
+4

From what I've seen, when referring to countries, Jetpunkers consider it to be in Asia; however, when referring to cities, Istanbul can show up in Europe. Some quizzes may also include Turkey to be in Europe, but only if they have a note about it in the quiz description.

Singapore is absurdly rich on a per capita basis, but has a small population. Taiwan is the least populous of this group, and it is still several times larger than Singapore.

I looked it up on Wikipedia and Pakistan is #11. Even though it faces many problems (including instability, terrorism, and corruption), it's still a developing country with a large population. Even so, I think Pakistan lags behind many other Asian countries in terms of growth rates and may slip further down the list in the future.

Are you sure this is by PPP? I looked it up on Wikipedia, and this list seems to match with nominal GDP instead. The Wikipedia page for PPP has several differences in order (such as Turkey ahead of South Korea, Taiwan being ahead of Thailand, Iran dropping off the list), but the nominal order is exactly the same. And Wikipedia also uses IMF data, so I'm not sure where the discrepancy would come from.

It could also just be that Wikipedia has more recent estimates, since Quizmaster hasn't updated this quiz in a year.
