Maybe make the Bologna clue "in Europe"? The university in Fes, Morocco was founded in the 800's and claims to be the oldest, though I suspect other cities with ancient roots might also claim the title.

I thought the school of hard knocks was the oldest.

Al-Qarawiyyin is generally regarded by scholars to have been a madrassa for most of its history, i.e. not a university. Bologna is certainly not an incorrect answer.

Even though the clue said "Italy", I couldn't think of anything but Fes.

How about Tortola? It is the largest of the British Virgin Islands, in the Atlantic

I suppose the British Virgin Islands are the territory, and Tortola is just a part of that territory. Otherwise Anegada would also be a correct answer, and probably lots of other places with seven letter names.

Tortola may have seven letters but that's not the answer this quiz is looking for. It's not asking for all possibilities.

Are there any Mexican states not home to a powerful drug cartel?

Nayarit, Oaxaca, Yucatan, Baja are some of them. I am very surprised so few people got Sinaloa. El Chapo is like the Pablo Escobar of the world currently.

When I was studying to be on Jeopardy, my niece was helping me learn my islands. She told me to remember Tahiti's island group by remembering that high Society liked their afternoon Tahi-tea. Didn't come up on Jeopardy, but I finally got to use it today!

I typed Baghdad without the h to see if it would be accepted. It was. Seems a wee bit lame in a quiz seeking 7-letter answers. That bit of nit-picking aside, it's a good quiz.

So I spent a couple minutes typing in El Chapo because I read the question as "head of a powerful drug cartel in Mexico." Silly me.

Good quiz. But Savannah has an "h" at the end and therefore doesn't have only seven letters.

I unconfidently guessed "Leeward" for the Tahiti / Bora Bora island group and was pretty surprised when it was correct ... somewhere else.
