What caused me a moment's pause was that the photo of Brazil was actually taken by a photographer standing in Argentina!

Nope - that picture is of the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls. Most of the actual waterfalls are on the Argentine side. Here's the proof - this googlemap image is taken from the Brazilian side, looking across the river into Argentina where the quiz's photo is of.

That's the kind of research I can appreciate! I've changed the image so that it may contain some parts of Argentina, but is mostly of the Brazilian side.

That's nailed it - the border runs through the middle of the far horseshoe :)

I got a lot of these by eliminating the three that weren't in the country, rather than by knowing the one that was. The only one I couldn't get by process of elimination was Tunisia.

Level 82

Tunisia is among the easiest for elimination - Gaudí's architecture in Barcelona, a church and Mecca.
+8
Level 63
Jan 20, 2021
Tunisia was 1 of 2 that I got wrong. Yes, there's a dome in the background but it doesn't have to be a church and the tower in the front could've been a Minaret.

im pretty sure i only got that one because it looks like the ruins you find in sniper elite 3 which has a north african campaign.

Yes I really want to know where the other places are.

First half: Oh, Mt. Fuji. That must be Japan!

Second half: Which of these waterfalls is a waterfall in Brazil.

I'm surprised about the low % of Canada. It's pretty much the most famous building there.

Is it though? I don't know it. I got it right by excluding the others.

I didn't recognize it at first, but then I thought, wait, that's that one building in Quebec, isn't it? Still missed New Zealand.

Me too, and I call dirty pool on a picture of snowy mountaintops that could be literally any mountains.
+3
Level 82

The NZ one was easy though. You've got what's clearly a European city (Stockholm, though it isn't necessary to know that), somewhere that's way too desolate to be in NZ (it's Big Bend in Texas). A city that's got much too much high rise for anywhere in NZ (it's Frankfurt... I guess at a stretch it could be confused with Auckland, but Auckland has a much smaller skyline, much more water around it and much more greenery) and then some snowy mountains. So while I agree the snowy mountains could be anywhere, you can pretty easily work out that's NZ by eliminating the others.

I mixed up Shanghai tower with the CN tower :)

Hhmm... Isn't the foto representing China from Lhasa in Tibet... if so a bit controversial and maybe another foto might be better.

I really like this quiz and the way to choose the right answer.

There is no controversy that Tibet is a part of China

I think the Dalai Lama would like a word with you.

Agree with OP that Tibet should not be used to symbolise China.

As far as I know, the controversy is about whether or not Tibet *should* be part of China, but it's hard to argue that it isn't right now.

Yes, there is controversy even if China does not like it.
+5

Agree...From a moral standpoint it's hard to argue China should control Tibet so I think it would be better to pick a different picture for China.

There was no picture of the CN Tower. The two images of towers were the Berlin TV Tower and the Seattle Space Needle. The correct image from Canada was Le Chateau Frontenac.

They do look quite similar, I only knew it wasn't because there's a rounded white building next to the CN Tower, not a square black building.

Place Des Canotiers is a bit obscure, jeez. Trying to deduce if old-looking French architecture is old-Quebec architecture was hard!

Yes, I only got it because I've been lucky enough to visit Quebec City. Otherwise almost all the pictures I've seen of Canada are of Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver. Or Justin Bieber.

That image was Le Chateau Frontenac. I believe that Place des Canotiers is a public square around the same area of Le Chateau Frontenac, but they are by no means the same. That would be like saying the Forbidden City is Tiananmen Square.
