That projection looks so strange. Not the usual one for sure and I couldn't identify it from the list on Wikipedia, something always seemed different. Which one is it? Almost everything else except Mercator (or Web Mercator) always looks weird to me. However, a projection that preserves area seems kind of right for this quiz.
It's the equirectangular projection used in our countries of the world quiz compressed by 25% on the horizontal access to fit on the screen. It sends up looking a little like the mercator projection.
If overseas territories don't count France is misranked. According Wikipedia Metropolitan France is 551.806km2 (+89.491 for DOM-ROM and +31.072 for COM, TAAF, Clipperton and New Caledonia). So it shall rank between Kenya and Yemen.
The timer doesn't matter in these types of quizzes. It's a matter of identifying the country and clicking it. If you miss one, you missed it completely.
Some people are mouse-motorial challenged :) or touchpad. Like threading a needle, some can do that faster/better than others. (and depending on the device you use)
Did 50/50 previously, but this time I too in my speed called the first long asian country thailand, without giving much attention. So 49/50 this time...
There's quite a learning curve to jetpunk geography. Once you master the countries of the world and the world capitals quiz, you'll be in good shape and be able to hang with the big kids.
Greenland is an overseas territory. It's different. If you don't include the French Guiana as part of France you logically shouldn't include Hawaii as part of the USA.
The best way to remember Namibia is to remember that it has a panhandle. Also, you could think that the panhandle looks like a nose, and "Namibia" and "nose" start with the same letter.
Thats rather complicated..I just remember it is the first one after south africa. If you dó need a trick (that doesnt take 5 steps) you could think of the n for north. Namibia is the first country north of South-Africa.
My God, do I have to study a map of Africa!! I switched Myanmar and Thailand as well. I thought I would be pretty good at this quiz, but I wasn’t at all.
Do you think negotiators in the Sudanese breakup argued for unity saying, "We've got a good thing going in these map quizzes. We'll take quite a tumble if we split up now..."?
Ok, took a few seconds and came up with a plan to remember it. Zimbabwe has more b's and is closer to b-otswana. I think that would do the trick for me.
I thought we'd have like, a map of the world and we had to name which countries are the largest...
Btw does it matter? Didnt you know all those names allready? If you were intending to fill them in.
- Yemen is larger than Thailand
- Ukraine is smaller than South Sudan
