You really say zip? That sounds weird. But hey, who am I to say something about that. We call them Reißverschluss.

I had to think what we call them... and now I am confused (faster than I can type.) First I thought rits, but then thought no that is the whole thing. Then ah maybe ritssluiting. Then I thought what is the word for the entire thing in English and well zip (per) was what my mind produced.

and forgot how I wanted to continue because I was interrupted (had to let the cat out .) While walking back I was thinking so how would they say when it is left open. And then ow yea "fly"

Conclusion no idea haha just wanted to type what we call it.. sigh

ow yea and wondering now if I switched rits and ritssluiting and rits. Don't know what is referring to what now in any language.. ahhh

Most modern guns have "rifling", not just rifles. This includes handguns.
+3
Level 77
Dec 14, 2020
The question specifies "long gun". So even with rifling, hand-guns are excluded.

The principal meaning of "biannual" is twice a year, see https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/biannual (many other online dictionaries agree). The word that unequivocally means once every other year is "biennial".

It's rather likely that another factor in the zero reported cases is lack of transparency / honest reporting.

Of course. That question is very tongue in cheek on multiple levels.

Further tongue-in-cheek: "What country of 25 million has had zero confirmed cases of coronavirus due to

tight lockdowns and strict border controls and the wanton murder of innocent fishermen from neighboring nations?"

They have a perfect leader so of course they don't have any cases. No flu either. Or cancer probably, since he cured it himself.

"What is the largest type of musical instrument that is commonly used?"

What does this mean? This is very, very vague and very, very imprecise as a clue. Pipe organs aren't used in symphonies, for example. I doubt many people have an opportunity ever to even touch a pipe organ.

agree - the question should probably ask for an instrument, not a type of instrument. i was thinking brass, percussion - maybe ‘contra’?

Yea I found it ambiguous as well. My first answer was piano but after that I tried musical instrument Types and not specific musical instruments. Like string, brass woodwind (actually tried woodwork and then wind I think, couldn't remember the correct English terms)

My first answer was piano too. I later tried pipe organ, but I'd hardly call that a "common" instrument.

Most churches have a pipe organ (or at least they do in the UK), it's obviously not the most popular instrument in the world but it isn't hard to find one so I think common is fine. I agree that "type" is confusing though.

I feel dumb for not getting a lot of these. For the Italian word question, I kept trying the craziest variants of "amor" (even "ameur" for some reason), but didn't think of just adding an E. For the Spain one, I thought of Charles as a common mens' name that began with C, but couldn't for the life of me remember what the Spanish version of it was. Completely forgot the word "semiannual" existed, and I probably would have gotten "rifle" too if I didn't get impatient and just give up.

It's 'Hammer Throw'. I've never heard of it being referred to as the 'Hammer Toss'. But definitely, at the World Champs and the Olympics, one of the best events to watch.

I'd just like to point out that "semiannual" and "biannual" have slightly different meanings. Semiannual generally means every half year whereas biannual is twice a year but not necessarily at 6 month increments.

Having no Covid statistics for North Korea isn't the same thing as having no Covid infections. What there is zero of is reliable information about the pandemic within its borders. The question is being overly cute with the term "confirmed cases", but that's also like saying that British PM Boris Johnson hasn't confirmed whether he dresses in Sailor Moon cosplay while lip syncing J-pop music and performing dance routines in the mirror.

A few suggestions: Add "erstwhile" for the pravda question; alter the coronavirus clue to include something along the lines of hidden/misinformation; add "respectively" at the end of the Winter and Reeves question; replace "mens'" with "male" in the question about Spanish names.

The Alex Winters/Keanu Reeves question is confusing as phrased. I could only try to think of the same character being played by each actor on different occasions. Like maybe there was a Constantine remake with Alex Winters or something

Please add the ordinal to Queen Elizabeth. Otherwise, the inclination is to assume Liz 2, the one who did have children.
