If you're accepting Kosciuzko for the Seven Summits, you should also probably accept Mont Blanc.
+1
Level 76

Carstensz Pyramid is in Indonesia, which is generally agreed to be in Asia, so Everest would already cover that continent. The highest point in Oceania would be the highest point in Papua-New Guinea, which is Mt Wilhelm.

It's like saying that the Sinai is in Africa, or the European part of Turkey is in Asia... New Guinea is in Oceania, it is part of the same plate as Australia. Most seven summits lists choose either the Puncak Jaya or the Kosciuszko. Wilhelm is just a political choice, and thus the worst of all.

This is so muddled. We're declaring that a mountain that isn't even the highest on its own island, is the highest on a "continent" that is mostly made up of ocean (there's a clue in the name), i.e. the exact opposite of a continent. It's just bizarre.

Depends how you interpret the question I suppose; to climb the seven summits is an historic challenge, but if asked to name the highest points on the seven continents, Kosciuszko is the answer as Australia is the continent; Oceania is a geographic/geopolitical region. Luckily both answers are accepted

That was my problem: I'd never heard of any set of seven summits, so it could be spelt out. Do I gather it's the highest on each continent?

You should accept love for charity. In Catholicism, charity=love

1 Corinthians 13:13. One of the biblical verses where the Catholic virtue "charity" originates. Go ahead and look it up. Odds are, it'll say "love," not "charity."

Go ahead and take a look at what the Catholic Catechism says about the virtue "charity." (https://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p3s1c1a7.htm)

I love how nitpicky you and all quizmakers on here love to be, but when I make a legit suggestion, it is NEVER considered. In fact, it's usually ignored unless I insult you.

How bizarre. I reckon if you go to the source of 1 Corinthians the word used will mean "charity", not "love", which has a more general meaning. "And now abideth faith, hope and charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." is what my bible says. To say 'love' instead may lead to misunderstanding imho. The problem I guess is that the meaning of the word charity may itself be misunderstood, since it is often used rather differently these days compared with four centuries ago.

I put in Kilimanjaro for Mount Kilimanjaro and got it. Same for Everest. I put Elbrus for Mount Elbrus and didn't get it. So I put in Mont Blanc, thinking that must be the answer for Europe since it's the most famous tall European mountain, but that wasn't it. Super confusing. Most lists I looked up afterwards seem to include Mont Blanc... but at least make Elbrus an acceptable type-in, please.

Geographic order is... not really a thing unless everything is in a line. You can choose to go left to right, top to bottom, or right to left, or snake, bottom to top, etc

Alphabetic and rainbow are established orders that are not going to change.
