For "Mandarin, Cantonese, Wu" I tried "language" - accept that also?

All three are varieties of Chinese, so language isn't specific enough. That would be like accepting fruit for Concord, Globe, Muscadine.

I put "dialect".

Um, natural fears? Never hear of 'em. Certainly don't have 'em.

Agreed with Roger - and there are studies that we have "natural fears/phobias" or ones that we're born with.

You're not afraid of sticking your hand in a fire? Are kittens, squirrels, and rabbits not naturally afraid of dogs, wolves, and coyotes?

"Friends" really only fits with "imaginary." The other two are things that friends certainly could be, but the concepts are not commonly associated.

Sephardi Jew here, really surprised to see that we were the least guessed! Thought most North Americans would have heard of Ashkenazim and most Europeans/West Asians would have heard of the other 3 types

Not so sure about this one, but could "court" or "law" be accepted for the "Municipal, corporate, bail" clue? Did a quick search on Google, both seem to give enough hits to be added here...

Its a shame a lot of these 'types of' quizzes have repeat answers. You would have thought with all the things in the world that there would be no need for repetition :-)

Why is Judaism not accepted for the Sephardi question?
+2
Level 71
Jan 1, 2022
Because Ashkenazi, Sephardi and Mizrachi are types of Jews (based on where they were last from - Europe, Spain/North Africa, or Middle East), not types of Judaism.
+1
Level 77
Jan 2, 2022
It’s more accurate to say that they are different Jewish cultures, influenced by where their ancestors lived. The confusion is that The Jewish peoples aren’t only defined by religion, but also by culture. Theoretically, a Jewish person might not believe in Judaism.

Could noodle be accepted for pasta? Where I live we use the words interchangeably
+1
Level 82
Jan 2, 2022
Really? I find that really odd. Like, spaghetti, fettuccine, linguini - those I'd get, they're noodle-shaped. But do you call lasagna, tortellini, and ravioli noodles? I can't get my head around that.

Where I live, noodle is pretty much reserved for Asian foods - soba, banh pho, or youmian. If you called spaghetti a noodle people wouldn't find that odd and agree it makes sense, it's just not the done thing. But tortellini? Not so much.

While death metal is inarguably a form of metal, the inclusion of "glam" and "nu" within the category might possibly generate some confusion among those who are not fans of the genre... as well as anger among those who are! :-)
