What about Stuttgart?

You included Strasbourg, which is barely a village, but not Stuttgart.....

+5
Level 86
Nov 5, 2016
Strasbourg is well-known and is not a "village", but I agree that Strasbourg and Stuttgart are close enough to be both accepted for that dot.
+6
Level 76
Nov 6, 2016
Strasbourg is on the border (as the map shows), but Stuttgart is 100 km east, clearly inside Germany.
+6
Level 77

From the first answers on google: Population Strasbourg 271K, population Savannah 142K. So it's not the only "village" on the quiz. So what?

Level 68
Feb 15, 2017
To me, the issue is that Strasbourg is close to a larger and better known "S" city. Savannah isn't exactly a world metropolis, but there aren't any other "S" cities in the vicinity.

Africa just sits there lol

Remember, you can zoom the map by clicking it. The fact that the dot lies on the border is a dead giveaway because Stuttgart is right in the middle of Württemberg.

I guessed Strasboug first. The fact that it's on the border was a hint.

Strasbourg is where the European Parliament is based, so from a political perspective it's more well-known than Stuttgart despite being smaller in population.

If you claim Strasbourg is "barely a village", I am led to conclude that you have never been to Strasbourg.

Huh, all this time using Jetpunk, and I only just learnt that Suez is a city and not just the name of a canal.

Same! I don't know why, maybe I thought that Sochi was further up on the coastline, closer to Rostov-on-Don.

What about Sfax, Tunisia's "second city"?

How did 50% of people get Strasbourg, but only 14% got Sendai and only 16% got Surat?!! I have heard of all of them except for Strasbourg.
+5
Level 56
Feb 15, 2017
Strasbourg is, among all other things, one of the seats of the European Parliament. Sendai and Surat are just two of those huge bunch of cities in Eastern/Southern Asia (slight exaggeration but you get the point).

I think I only know Sendai because of Sendai Publishing- the company that used to make one of the video game periodicals I subscribed to.

Too US/China-centric. Could have included some from Africa or Europe?
+1
Level 65

Kinda US-centric, because why Savannah of all places???

Not really China-centric though. Shenyang, Shenzhen, and Shanghai are all major cities.

I do agree that there should be a few more in Europe (STUTTGART AND STOCKHOLM) and Sfax should be here too but there aren't very many other options for Africa

It's bizarre to see how many people are boldly confessing to having never heard of Strasbourg...

...And it's even more bizarre to see how many of them seem to think that's a problem with the quiz!

I mean, if you are not european you probably dont care that much about Strasbourg. As a long time jetpunker Strasbourg is second nature to me but most of my friends and family probably have never heard of it.

That been said, it's a great addition to the quiz. Great way to learn about these things if you are not european.

Stuttgart is a way better option for Europe though. It's actually a major city. Strasbourg is well-known but not nearly as big as Paris, Marseille, Toulouse, Lyon, etc. Stuttgart's thrice the size!
