@McKenzieFam no elements start with Q.

I know. I've made an entire quiz series on 'Elements by Letter', and there's no Q.

Then why did you ask where the Q is?

Q is an extra-dimensional being who possesses immeasurable power over time, space, the laws of physics, and reality itself so I suppose you could say he's everywhere ... and nowhere.

There’s also no J. In fact, the letter J never appears in any element of the periodic table.

Why does "gold" appear when you answer "gadolinium"? Similar thing happened for multiple other answers (i.e. the answer was accepted, but what was typed didn't appear). Just wondering.

(answering as a quiz maker) When you make an answer for each letter, the answer you put is what shows up when someone guesses it. You can also make it so more than one answer is accepted to get that question right. Even if you answer with one of the other answers that are accepted, what the quiz maker originally put is what shows when you answer the question.

Lithium is more guessed then lead? Well that's odd.

+5
Level 63
Mar 5, 2018
As someone whose main language isn't English I go for the ones that are very similar or exactly like the German names first. Lithium is exactly the same while lead couldn't be any more different (Blei). That's why lead hardly comes to my mind. I actually use Plumbum for it in these quizzes.

I typed Potassium for 'K', seeing it's symbol so often in place of it's name!

My guess for 'L' was Livermorium. Unsure why that occurred before either lead or lithium.
+1
Level 77
Jun 29, 2020
I had Lanthanum first. I guess it's because we think of the letter L more as part of the element's symbol, so we picture symbols like Li, La and Lv. Pb for lead doesn't really come to mind in this way and would be rather misleading - no pun intended. :)

what makes you think lithium is more guessed than lead. No way to know right. Lithium is just the answer the quizmaker decided to be shown (out of all the possible ones starting with "l" same goes for all the other letters)

I got some obscure ones though. As in, probably not the first thing that should come to mind.

Arsenic, Berylium, Calcium, Fluorine, Germanium, Helium, Iodine, Lithium, Magnesium, Nickel, Oxygen, Potassium, Radon, Sulphur, Tungsten, Uranium and Xenon.

+6
Level 73
May 21, 2018
All Un- names are given pending the confirmation of the discovery of the element. When it's done, they're given a definitive one. Right now, there is no three letter elements. Your Ununtrium has been renamed Nihonium 1 year and a half ago along with Livermorium, Tennessine and two others I forgot about.

EDIT: Sorry, after checking, it appears Livermorium has been named so before that.

I think I did, astatine, beryllium, calcium, darmstadtium, erbium, fluorine, gallium, helium, iodine, krypton, livermorium, manganese, neon, oxygen, ?,radium, strontium, tungsten, uranium, vanadium, xenon, yttrium, zinc.

So only for fluorine, oxygen, yttrium and zinc I guessed the suggested answers. (excluded the ones that only have one option)
