That was confusing for a minute, huh yucca?? I have got cassava in my garden? The pointy things are their staple crop?

But apparently Yuca is not a spelling error or alternate spelling (or english word) for Yucca.

V trivial but why isn't it called Kongo? Seems more appropriate, and differentiates the country a wee bit from DRC.

Because the official language is French, and that is how they spell it in France.

In Germany, it is Kongo. Also in the native languages. Repubilika ya Kôngo (Kongo)

Republíki ya Kongó (Lingala)

Should add cannibalism and genocide for Pygmies.

Let's not, it sounds like they're suffering enough already. ;)

Well, if they are suffering more than that, then we should probably be more accurate

I must have tried as many words as I could that would have related to river but somehow didn't think of "deepest."

That was my first guess, by process of elimination of other possible characteristics.

This quiz concerns the Republic of the Congo so why should it include a question about another country (Democratic Republic of the Congo) ?

I guess it's because the cities are as close as they are to each other. The question is still asked from ROC's perspective.

Normally, you always have a question about neighboring countries (where appropriate). That is actually missing here, and would probably have been more difficult.

I tried Congo for the ethnicity, because I had a faint idea that it was the same as the country name. Wouldn't have crossed my mind to spell it with a K. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. I think, since it is a spelling difference due to differing languages, and since C and K are exchangable sounds in English in this instance at least, more leniency would be highly appreciated!

I even tried Congolese - nope!

But then filling in the name of the river would give you that one, too.

I like how, for each different country, the columns are the color of the flag! That's really clever!

I tried 'Bakongo' for the ethnicity. Shouldn't this work?

Pygmy is often seen as a derogatory term. The question should be reworded; perhaps to talk about a specific tribe, such as the Bantu, or to frame is as "the indigenous group of peoples who face discrimination etc. are usually ___" answer: short-statured, to avoid using the term indiscriminately.

12/14, I didn’t know “pygmies” and “cassava”, but I knew Pointe-Noire.
