I did travel from South Tarawa (pop about 50,000) across a short bridge into Buota, the first island in North Tarawa. From there an outrigger ferry takes you onto the next island, Abatao, where it's dreamy and empty, with villages among the trees you can only walk between on a sandy track. I even found a hillock there that I swear is higher than Tarawa's official 3 metre high point!

I'll wager that South Tarawa is the most-guessed of the Oceania capitals because it's mentioned here...

Georgia isn't in Asia. Why is its capital on the Asia segment of this quiz?
+9
Level 92

Because the majority of Georgia is in Asia.

You could just as easily say it is not in europe. They are in neither/both. But it seems they would like to be european.

Moscow is at 55 N - do you consider it a European capitol even though the vast majority of the country it represents is in Asia?

Moscow is definitely a European city. And a large portion, and the most populous part, of Russia is in Europe.

Before starting this quiz I found a user quiz on the capitals of Oceania. I perfected that one then came back here and it was mostly easy. Bishkek took me a while to remember.

Bishkek always makes me think of Eric Cartman in season 1 episode 2 of South Park. "beef cake! BEEF CAKE!!"

Probably a drunk German person because kekse is cookie in German, so Bishkek is a mix between a biscuit and a cookie.

Apparently one that means "place of fermented (keyhole) angelfish", nice!

And don't mistake angelfish for anglerfish. Which is what I thought of when I saw the word.. (partly because english isnt my first language and didnt read the word angel as you are supposed to but more like angle. But then again that could also have been bécáuse I already had anglerfish in my mind)

Why was Asia so much harder for me than Oceania? Tbilisi is further north than Beijing or Tokyo? That's... kind of hard to imagine. I know it's true. And Tokyo is actually only slightly north of Los Angeles in latitude. But it's hard to imagine on a map.
