There's no way the Vatican doesn't have a heavy metal band. The country is run by a freakin' Pontifex, which has to be the name of some band somewhere

Yeah, seems a missed opportunity. They only need one to shoot right to the top of the per capita list. Come on, Jorge!

Appears there is a band called Pontifex - a avant garde metal band. From Florida, but the band includes members of Suffocation, etc.

I hear that there is a group of cardinals that rock out from time to time. They call themselves The Priesty Boys. They teach you to fight for your right to worship.

I know this is a joke, but Francis actually has released a rock album. So if you ever want him to join your band, I'm sure it would become quite pope-ular :)

Everyone already knows the Vatican is run by satanic occult pagans masquerading as Christians, with all their pics of Lucifer underground, dragon displays, obelisk with cross, vesica piscis, fish hat of Dagon, pinecone monuments, earth goddess statues, mythical statues, saturn hats and worship, and fondness for little boys --I guess they figured they don't need a metal band. LOL

what does morbid fascination have anything to do with anything?

But yea there is indeed a link with nordic culture and metal bands, but those are the bands that sings about (germanice/nordic) gods and glory, and well, beer.. (mead actually) and not about morbid stuff. No more morbid than wagner

I'm also disappointed that the Vatican doesn't make it at least per capita. Sweden was my first guess. Have a friend who spent a lot of time in a band that played Swedish-style death metal.

When I was preparing my resume for a law school job fair, my school's career advisor told me to include some personal interests and get creative with it, as a good way to spark conversation during interviews. I listed that I play guitar in a band, and put my job position as "Shreditor-in-chief." A partner from an elite New York firm interviewed me and spent the whole 20 minutes asking me to explain the reference to her, because she initially thought it was a typo. She never got the joke, and I never got the job. It was totally worth it though. The next guy that interviewed me was really into metal, and we talked forever. Then he hired me and I stayed there for four years. \\m//

Saying "per capita" instead of "per 100,000 people" is pretty funny. It makes it sound as though the average Finn is a member of 75 different metal bands.

Funnily enough, you're actually not wrong. Rock is incredibly popular in Bangladesh, and while more of it is soft rock, there are also quite a few heavy metal bands. Some, like Warfaze and Artcell, were quite popular at their peak. There may not be enough to make this list, but there are certainly enough to be a significant part of Bangladesh's music scene.
