Wouldn't non-sovereign be a better term to describe these territories than "fake countries"? Other than that, great quiz! :)

Agreed. The most notable "offender" is Scotland, which IS considered a 'country' using UK terminology, but is not sovereign. (They've voted against leaving the UK a couple times, I think - but at least once.)

They actually represent the islands of Tuvalu, in case anyone was wondering.

They voted against it by a narrow margin BEFORE BREXIT. They are in the early stages of planning a post-BREXIT independence vote.

At which point, if it succeeds and everything goes through, all of Jetpunk save for a few angry English people will happily welcome Scotland to the great family of independent nations! They're just not in it right now.

Its JetPunk not Jetpunk

It’s JetPunk not Jetpunk.

It’s “it’s”, not “its”. Muphry’s law in action, haha.

I will avoid pointing out the obvious irony here and instead just mention that doesn't have anything to do with Murphy's law.

Fun quiz, thanks.

BTW, the Falkland Islands being described as "involved in an undeclared war between Argentina and the United Kingdom" makes it seem like it's still going on, at least the way I read it. Adding "... in 1982." would make it clear, but not exactly a huge issue!

2013 Referendum in the Falklands: 92% turnout, 99.8% voted to remain a British territory with only 3 votes against. I understand Argentina has a sound claim to the islands but it is pretty clear that they are happy remaining as part of the UK.

Some of them are yeah not recognized states, like Somaliland and SADR, but they are in practice independent. They work and do everything as if they are an independent country, especially when it comes to Somaliland, as the government there is completely detached from Somalia, which is even considered to be a failed state.

SADR (Western Sahara) I would say is quite far removed from being an independent state. They control a strip of desert territory claimed by Morocco, and there are settlements in these territories, but the majority of Western Sahara is under Moroccan control. In fact, the Sahrawi leadership is based in a refugee camp in Algeria currently.

Surprised to see Puerto Rico is so low. La Bandera Borinquen is so ubiquitous in the US, especially in New England, Chicagoland, NYC-tristate area, Florida, which includes an enormous portion of the US population, and of course PR itself.
