I kept wanting it to be a tuna as well, so I was trying "whitetail", which I think my brain amalgamated from several different types of sushi.

What about Winkle for "Sea snail"?
+5
Level 75
Feb 27, 2016
That was my answer. "Winkle is a common name applied to numerous different species of small, round, usually edible, snails. These are often species of sea snails..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winkle

Why isn't wildebeest spelled with a "beast" at the end? And why do I always think it is? I'm surprised no one has complained about that not being an accepted spelling.

Because it's not really English, it's Afrikaans, which comes from Dutch and there it's "beest". It does mean beast though.
