I could not remember Khrushchev for the life of me. I knew it was the guy who famously banged his shoe on the table, but i couldn't remember who it was.
Very good quiz, but, like many, a tad too "America-centred." The 1980 Olympics weren't boycotted only by the USA, but by many (mostly) Western countries. Likewise, Joseph McCarthy would be better characterised as "a US senator".
^When I said "in truth" I meant "essentially". I realise that there were other combatants involved, but when it boils down to it, those were by far the most important. Everyone else was to some extent just caught in the crossfire.
I was a little shocked that Politburo is only got by 30 odd % of the test takers, then I remember that Zimbabwe is quite enamoured of the communists, so of course we had to have a politburo, because every other commie country had one.
Hey Quizmaster, I do believe that Malenkov was premier from 53-56, and it says that Khrushchev started in 53. Malenkov headed the party and assumed the role after Stalin's death but got kicked out.
I'm not 100% sure. My impression was that First Secretary of the Communist Party was a more important post than Premier. But I do know that the situation was complicated after the death of Stalin.
Somewhat unrelated, if you are into history and like comedies I highly recommended "The Death of Stalin" starring Steve Buscemi.
I can't believe that you put the "Rocky" character in this quiz. Rocky is a fictional character, played by Sylvester Stallone and Ivan Drago is even more of a fiction. Do they really belong in a quiz dealing with such a serious topic as a real a war and a real nuclear threat?
I would suggest clarification that you mean party decision making and not legislative decision making so it's clear that you're looking for Politburo and not Supreme Soviet
