Chimborazo isn't well known, yet its peak claims the title of the point on the surface of the Earth most distant from its centre. The equatorial bulge means it's a greater distance than to the top of Everest.

You are right. It makes it quite an interesting mountain. It also means it is the point on earth closest to the Moon.

Depends on when in the cycle...diagrams mostly show the Moon revolving around Earth's equator, but it makes a significant difference even that far away. Besides, since the orbit is elliptical and not entirely round, astronomers don't calculate a singular distance.

Cotopaxi would be well known to schoolchildren of my generation from the poem "Romance" by WJ Turner, which has a refrain about Chimborazo, Cotopaxi. The final verse runs:-

The houses, people, traffic seemed

Thin fading dreams by day,

Chimborazo, Cotopaxi

They had stolen my soul away!

And there is no Victoria Island in Canada. Note to quiz-masters: Victoria is the capital of the province of British Colombia in Canada, and it is located on the tip of VANCOUVER ISLAND. By the way, Vancouver is the largest city in British Columbia. It, ironically, is not located on Vancouver Island, but on the mainland of BC

Unless you mean the tiny Victoria Island in the city of Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Or perhaps you mean the Victoria Island, one of many islands in the high Arctic of which many Canadians don't know the names because they're so remote and far removed,

Most Americans don't know many of the Hawaiian islands. Just "Big Island" and maybe Maui or O'ahu and *very rarely* Moloka'i or Kauai. Victoria Island is comparable to O'ahu in that regard.

It's not like there's one hugely famous Victoria Island and a few other not-so-famous ones. They're all pretty obscure.

If this were a picture quiz that would be cool and remove all doubt...!
