Fei Long and the other characters kalbahamut mentioned didn't show up until Super Street Fighter 2, one of the endless rereleases with a few extra features.

They absolutely should. It's rare that a last name can't be used by itself in a Jetpunk quiz.

if this is the original characters of sf2 then should the bosses names be in the original order of

m bison

balrog

sagat

vega

That was not the original order in most of the world. And honestly I never understood the Japanese names. I mean, aside from "Mike Bison" which makes sense. But why is the Thai crime lord Vega, when Vega is a Spanish or Latin name? I mean you've got a Spanish boss... why not give him the Spanish name? Instead they name him after the demon in a book by Tolkien?

I guess it doesn't make much more sense than naming the Thai general and crime lord after a North American animal. But... at least they fixed the Vega problem. And I personally think the big tough boxer makes a better Balrog than the fancypants dancing bullfighter.

It was the original order of the creaters of the game hence it is the original order.

M. Bison/ Vega. His name was from a the Star Vega, which as you pointed out it was changed because north americans felt it was non threatening (even though its a name belonging to a massive ball of burning fission) and swapped with balrog which due legal concerns over mike Tyson and m. bison was then switched again.

The name Balrog has nothing to do with lord of the rings.

Still it is a quiz stated original sf2 characters so the names should go in the original Japanese order rather than the later import order.

The number of copies of SF2 sold in Japan vs the rest of the world is pretty small. It was not the most important market for the original game. It's not how most of the world knows the characters, presently or originally. And how do you figure the name from the Lord of the Rings had nothing to do with the Lord of the Rings? Do you work for Capcom? Where else did the name come from?

once again I point out that the name of the quiz is original characters.

not the most well known, not of highest selling game. Original. That means first.

If the quiz was original avengers you wouldn't have captain America in it. Even though he is one of the best known avengers characters.

As for balrog, I don't think that a obscure character from an old English novel would have had that much influence on a Japanese software engineer. Admitedly I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure its not. At least it has not been mentioned as the basis for the name on any of the major sf2 websites or magazines I have seen/read.

Obscure? Old English novel? Okay I forgive your previous comments. Clearly you're not operating with a full deck of cards. I guess you think Biggs and Wedge in Final Fantasy have nothing to do with Star Wars, either.

The boss lineup above is the original lineup for most of the world. Get over it.

So using your reasoning then

In the original Lord of the Rings, Arwen helps Frodo after amon sul not glorfindel

and in the original Hobbit, Azog is killed by Thorin in the battle of the five armies instead of being killed at Moria by Dain.

because that's what happened in the movies and most of the world have seen the movie rather than read the books.

And Run DMC must the original artists of the song walk this way.

Maybe Balrog in the japanese phonetics only means "bull rogue" which fits perfectly to someone who is both a matador and an assassin... working for an illegal organization.

According to the Cambrigde English Dictionnary :

Rogue : a person, organization, or country that does not behave in the usual or acceptable way.

Maybe, except it's not. Japanese video games are full of Western religion and pop culture references and this is intentional.

Got them all, but I had to rely on the movie for the last couple. One of those "so bad, it's good" joints, and it has my favorite of all the (many, many) cheesy 90's action one-liners.

Government stooge, upon hearing of Guile's plan to storm Bison's compound: "Colonel, have you lost your mind?!"

Guile: "No, you've lost your balls."
