Perhaps when you need some facial tissues, you ask for some Kleenex (regardless of the real brand of the tissues). Well, Kleenex (the brand) is owned by Kimberly-Clark.

It is, but it's also the name of the company. Of course, this discussion is now moot since Daimler-Benz renamed their company to Mercedes-Benz Group in 2022.

I have no idea how/why I knew McDonnell Douglas. No idea what they do/make. Guess I've just heard it enough subconsciously that it stuck.
