OK, will see what I can do. The issue with having obscure films though is that it opens the door to other combinations being valid because someone once made a film called Jurassic Gump or whatever… :)
Honestly, the problem is that my parents were overly strict about what I was allowed to watch all my life. I wasn’t even allowed to watch PG-13 movies til I was 16, and I got really sick of Disney movies, so I just quit watching movies. Even now that I graduated high school and left home, I just don’t have much interest in movies. I will amend my previous statement though, I have seen Forrest Gump.
There are so many great movies on this list. I'd start with Bicycle *******--it's a heartbreaker. But others might recommend Seven *******--a great movie that reveals something new with each viewing. Or Raging ****, DeNiro and Scorsese at their best. Double ********* for Edward G. Robinson's speech about actuarial tables (I kid you not) and Blade ****** for the greatest production values of all time. Or Toy ***** for changing expectations forever. Lots of classics that are not to be missed.
There are so many genres represented here -- what are you watching if you don't like any of them? I've seen about 3/4 of the movies on this list and while I didn't like them all, I would say they're all worth seeing, if only because of their cultural impact.
Great quiz. I agree with the others about a harder quiz if possible. But also way too much time. I took 1:07. Maybe cut it down to 3 minutes max. 5 minutes is way too generous, imho. But well done.
Tight time limits are useful on quizzes where multiple answers can be tried or for a particular challenge. You can only pick each answer once on click quizzes so I try to give more time than most will need.
All this time I thought I watched Bicycle Thief in my class at University. I thought you were wrong and then I looked it up, what a surprise! Great movie list, haven't seen them all but knew right away all the answers.
It's sometimes known as "The Bicycle Thief", but that's an inaccurate translation. There's a bit of contention over it as it perhaps sounds better as a title, but doesn't fit the story as well as the original title.
Not going to lie- surprised that Seven Samurai is at the bottom of the list in terms of how many get that one, considering that it is regarded as one of the finest movies in Japanese cinema and that it was one of George Lucas' sources of inspiration for Star Wars.
Also, harder or not: MOAR! This was a lot of fun.
(Though I will say I did get some of them more through elimination than anything else as I’d never even heard of a fair few of these!)
Also, really like the format of these quizzes - very satisfying.
Groundhog Samurai
Raging Gump
Jurassic Thieves
Blade Unchained (sounds like an awesome Blade sequel)
And Bicycle Runner
Bicycle Samurai
Die Now
Raging Indemnity
Pulp Labyrinth
Groundhog Beauty
Wish I could go back and watch them all for the first time.
