If you are going to give a clue as to what "rock"tourists will no longer be able to climb, you need to at least accept Ayers since it is known as Ayers Rock or Uluru.

Pendants seem particularly vicious today, so I'll just say Merry Christmas to Quizmaster :)

Hopefully the last week won't bring something bad that needs to be added up here.

Hardly pedantic. He has himself put up an excellent standard, pointing out slips that happen to everyone is just to help him keep that standard. Merry Christmas.

I guess Quizmaster is taking Christmas off, leaving "Jeff Bezos" as his own company for a few days. I might have guessed it if the title of the quiz had been "Quizmaster"...

I find it hard to guess "state sponsored doping". I think if they say "drugs" and "cheating" then that should be enough.

Level 69
Dec 30, 2017
I too gotta say that "drugs" seems like it should be enough. But when it wasn't, I found it interesting to go through the the entire laundry list of Russian misdeeds that the Olympic Committee *didn't* censure!

Kept trying to think of the correct phrasing for Aug. 21's event. Maybe add in other type ins for it, like complete solar eclipse, etc.?

Eclipse worked for me - I was lucky to be near the pathway and it was a short dive to a fantastic sight. Waiting for 2024 when it will go right over us.

Tried Disney alone, and it worked.

Full name should be accepted.

"What rare event did millions of Americans witness on August 21?"

I couldn't think past the idea that Pres Trump said something that day that wasn't totally stupid or offensive (Not that I can think what that might have been)

Technically it was just Iraqi Kurdistan that voted for independence, as the region extends beyond Iraq. "Kurdistan" would be a fine acceptable answer for it though.

Although it is known as the "Kurdistan Region" by Iraq, I suppose. "Southern Kurdistan" is also good.

Can you please also allow for Ayres Rock? Some of us are older players and we did not learn that geographical feature with its updated Aboriginal name.

Oct 24, 2018
no no no... Ayres should not be allowed...it has never been Ayre's Rock...older players need to learn correct spellings.. Ayers Rock, named after Sir Henry Ayers, the Chief Secretary of South Australia at the time.
