It looks like you've excluded possessions on Antarctica (Ross Dependency, etc) - if so you might want to make that clear in the instructions.

Those are not part of the countries, as they have no sovereignty over those territories.

After trying Micronesia, I decided no Oceanian countries besides Australia were on the list. Damn.

Turns out that's not a decision you get to make.

I've best heard Kiribati describes as a handful of tiny islands spanning a stretch of ocean the size of Australia.

I was surprised South Africa didn't make it in. Looks like it barely misses with 2,932 km from Marion Island to the Botswana-Namibia tripoint.

Looks like France should be #1 - I get a distance of 18,151 km from Clipperton Island to Tromelin Island (French Southern and Antarctic Lands).

Thanks. It looks like my script had a bug when the country spanned too many degrees of longitude. Fixed now!

The Kingdom of the Netherlands consists of 4 constituent countries: The Netherlands, Aruba, Curacao and St Maarten.

And Bonaire, Saba and St Eustatius are special municipalities.

The quiz doesn't mention overseas territories, it mentions overseas "possessions". Just take it to mean and dependent or controlled territories anywhere in the world regardless of official status.

Hawaii is overseas and it's not an overseas territory.

I would suggest adding a note to let folks know if Antarctic claims are included or not. The reason being there are a lot of conflicting and overlapping claims, some of which are not recognized (e.g. the US and Russia doesn't recognize anyones claims to Antarctica).

I feel like this should be obvious for someone who's been here for a while, but Antarctic claims are never included in this type of quiz, for the simple reason that no part of Antarctica belongs to any country. They are not overseas territories or possessions.
