Like it, lot of time given though. Enough time to make educated guesses and still finish.

Mississippi threw me. Haven't seen that flag yet.

Mississippi's new flag makes it one of the only states with a genuinely good flag. I wish that every state whose flag is just "state seal + blue background" would redesign their flag.

I agree. All the seals and blue backgrounds are annoying to me. My home state of New Jersey is the state seal with an off-yellow background which I think is somehow worse

Though I agree that it needed a change, this wasn't it. It lacks real character.

Mississippi's old flag was bad even without the Confederate flag on it, now its one of my favorites!

Let's be real... it's still pretty ugly, especially when compared to some of the better state flags such as Texas. That being said it's still an upgrade over the old one and a lot better than all the lazy ones that are just the seal on a (usually) blue background.

The problem with redesigns is that good (or at least popular) design theory changes over time. Right now Colorado has one of the best flag designs because we're at peak minimalism. It looks like it was designed last week. But 30 years from now, people could easily hate it because it's lazy, too simplistic, sterile, etc.

I don't think constant redesigns are worth the trouble outside of extreme circumstances (like Mississippi).

It's a thought, but I'd be curious to see some evidence to support it. There are principles of good flag design that really don't change given that the way flags are used doesn't really change. A lot of state flags violate those principles. They are just bad designs and they will never be good.

TX and NY never appeared on my screen. I only got them because there was enough time to guess.

Also, I'd really like to see Hawaii come up with a flag that's less British.
