Can you accept Guam. At least I think it is Guam.
+51
Level 72
Sep 25, 2017
I believe Guam is the overseas US territory, so not a country in its own right, but USA is accepted for it.
+1
Level 65
Nov 6, 2023
They mean to accept Guam as the territory.
+32
Level 55
Sep 25, 2017
Guam is a US territory, that's why the US answer is in red.
+1
Level 65
Nov 6, 2023
That's why they want it accepted.
+28
Level 69
Sep 26, 2017
Actually, the U.S. is most likely in there for the Northern Marianas, which are closer than Guam by a hundred or so miles.
+10
Level 82
Nov 1, 2017
I'm guessing the U.S. is in there for Alaska (Aleutians).
+27
Level 72
Nov 1, 2017
The Aleutians are not an overseas territory, though... So probably not what the quizmaster had in mind when adding the "red" comment.

Hawaii is a US State, not an overseas territory, and Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands are closer to North Korea anyway.

Spelt? Not sure where you learnt that.
+6
Level 51
Oct 10, 2023
Ironic how you mock someone for writing "spelt" which is how it's written in British English when you yourself wrote "learnt" which is also British English...Americans usually spell it "learned"
+15
Level 71
Aug 15, 2020
@Hollywood spelt and spelled are both correct, although spelled is more standard
+24
Level 82
Nov 12, 2020
Spelled is more standard in the USA, but spelt is more common in the UK (and generally considered acceptable everywhere, as far as I know).

I wish people would consider the well-known fact that English varies considerably between places before getting snooty about others' "errors".

@Kitsims, I'm an American (I love all countries tho, but not leaders such as Kim Jong-Un [sorry kim], and I'm NOT self centered, and I love all people, again, except for the obvious bad ones) and I use both Spelt and Spelled. The United States accepts both spelled and spelt. This is why I am learning so many different languages, and also, I might want to move to Australia or New Zealand when I get older (I want to visit every country except for DPRK) I love Indonesia and the Pacific Island Nations though, REALLY PRETTY COUNTRIES!
