Wikipedia says the British empire was 13.7 million square miles while the Mongol empire was 9.3 million square miles. Did you mean "contiguous"?

From what I have read, the terms Byzantine and Latin were not used by the Eastern Romans. They thought of and called themselves Roman.

In the former case, you are definitely right. The official name of the state was most certainly Roman Empire and the native inhabitans (mostly Greek speaking) called themselves Romans (in fact, the colloquial Greek term "Romios" came to mean "a Greek" and was use as such long after Greek-speaking lands were subjected by the Ottomans, in some rural areas even unitl the 20th century). However, I am all but certain that the Crusader-created empire sponsored by the West in the 13th was actually called Latin Empire even then (since the term "Latins" was used to denote Catholic Christians of the Roman rite, to distinguish them from the Byzantine Orthodox worshippers).

They did, but Sasanians were the last resisting Persian empire against the Islamic forces of Arabia. Btw Seleucids were Greeks not Persians.

Tibet did not control "western China". China invaded Tibet, annihilated its people, colonized it and annexed it.

Annihilated its people?

Tibet was an empire in the 700s, much larger than the original homeland of the Tibetans.

"Annihilated its people"

90% of the current population of the Tibetan Autonomous Region is ethnically Tibetan.

very minor thing, but could the clue for Inca perhaps be more focused on what it was while it was around?

Portugal didn't get a claim to half the New World, only a pretty small slice; additionally, the clue could also refer to the other side of the Treaty. surely better clue is possible

"empire" is very strong for Wu? it was after all, literally the "Three Kingdoms" period, and it kinda messed around in the bones of a former empire until it died.

The New World was not only America.

The Treaty of Tordesillas granted all land outside of Europe and west of 46 degrees west longitude to Spain and all lands east to Portugal, for the purpose of colonization. The Treaty of Zaragoza bounded the other side of this area in East Asia. So the world was very nearly divided in half. Though Portuguese colonization of the western portion of Brazil and Spanish colonization of the Philippines would defy these treaties.

I have to admit, I just started typing in Chinese cities and languages to get all of the Chinese-based empires. It worked for all but Y.

Anyone else feel guessing Chinese empires is almost too easy in Latin alphabet? I don't know anything about Chinese history but if I just spam Chinese-sounding one syllable words I can usually get them
