Well, they did make a quite famous musical featuring a certain Eva Peron. And they had Madonna play her in the film so, maybe that jogs a few memories! Lol
DB692 - Hamas operates on Israeli land and Hamas believes that land to be their own. As for Palestine being an independent country akin to Vatican City...that's interesting since the Vatican has a single government and borders. Do you consider Hamas to be the governing party and, if so, isn't their agenda to expand their borders at the expense of their neighbors?
Numerous countries (that are UN members) have competing governments: Libya, Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, to name a few. Most due to internal conflicts or occupation.
Hamas doesn't operate on Israeli land, it operates in Gaza. Not even Israel openly claims Gaza is Israeli land. And yes, Hamas is the governing party, it won fair elections and so it governs by mandate of the Palestinian people. You don't have to like them, but you do have to recognise their right to govern, just as Palestinians have to recognise Likud's right to govern Israel.
Conservatopia's reductionist comment would not be correct either forwards or backwards... though many underinformed people believe otherwise, going in one direction or the other. And both of you have been around the site for a while. Suggesting that neither of you are trolling.
I used to watch a typical LA Law look-alike programme called Street Legal. I first became aware it was not in fact American but made and set in Canada, when one of the leading characters referred disparaginly to "the Tories". (They could afford to be partisan because I think the Conservatives were down to three seats in Parliament then.)
If the hint had stated "Solidarnosz" along with "Solidarity" I would have had it. I guess in this case also the percentage of people who didn't get it would be less than 47 %, as the name is not translated in many (major) languages.
No! - FARC is known to be a Colombian movement. Just because it may have branched out to Panama (and possibly other nearby countries) does not merit a change in its origin.
Should add the Rhinoceros Party (USA & Canada) except that it was a satirical party, rather than a political one. *sigh. I really wanted to see them repeal the Law of Gravity.
I assume you may be implying something about Jews being to blame for the movement? But in reality the Bolsheviks were a pretty diverse group, comprising Slavs and non-Slavs, Jews and non-Jews, Christians and atheists from all over the Russian Empire and beyond. But there were many prominent ones who were Russian Jews.
Whenever I hear the words "cavalier" or "roundhead" I think of the final episode of Keeping Up Appearances where they do a pageant about the English Civil War. :)
That would be great indeed
