You could accept Cinquecento for the Fiat question (500)

Given the lenght of the line, though, it's pretty obvious you're supposed to write it in numbers and not spelled out.

I've always known it as cinquecento, I don't even assiciate it with '500' (just never thought of it as anything other than a name!)

I wasted about a minute trying to figure out how I was spelling "margherita" wrong in margherita pizza, so for future pizza connoisseurs, might I ask that you accept its full name? It's such a specific-looking type of pizza that it didn't even occur to me you were just looking for plain ol' "pizza". I mean, you do accept "shells" *and* pasta for the next one… :-) Anyway, thank you for the attractive & tasty quiz!!

Tomato sauce on bad bread is the name of pizza in Italy. I'd call someone stubborn for eating it, not a connoisseur.

given how little the world famous and universally popular variety of pizza resembles that stuff, just "pizza" seems like a wrong answer.

If you wanna be correct, Vespa is the model, while Piaggio in the scooter brand: you would never think Testarossa as an automobile brand, while you would think at Ferrari

Now Vespa is also a brand, but I know that the model in the photo is a Piaggio Vespa. I might correct that

Missed Espresso... I always forget that abroad people say "espresso" and not just "coffee"!

Espresso is a way of making coffee and the name for the resulting product. But it's not the only coffee there is. Drinking a regular size cup of Espresso is not like drinking one of black coffee. Really wouldn't recommend that.

But Carry, this is a quiz about Italy, and over there people generally call it coffee not espresso; I believe that is the point arres82 was making. But since we're on the topic of drip coffee and espresso, have you tried a 'Shot in the Dark'? It's a shot of espresso in a cup of drip coffee. So much yum! Three shots is called a Dead Eye -- but that one's not my speed, no pun intended.

Just make the coffee stronger to begin with instead of 2 water ratios and mixing them.

In the parts of Italy that I have visited, they laugh at you for asking for an 'espresso' - it's a 'ristretto'.

Was really hoping it would accept 'Topolino' for the Fiat. I know it's not the actual model name but a nickname.

"Topolino" was the nickname for another Fiat 500 built in the 1930s. This one was a very different car

Accept Flavian Amphitheatre for the first picture?
+2
Level 89
Jun 3, 2019
The photo for the answer 'espresso' isn't really apt. The machine / set-up pictured is used to make all sorts of coffees, not just espressos. If you wish to lead us to the answer 'espresso' might I suggest a photo of a cup of espresso.

Alternatively, you could change the answer to 'coffee machine' (but that's boring :-) ).

I wonder if this quiz would benefit from accepting Italian names for these things, such as 'Alpi', 'Colosseo' and 'Torre di Pisa' (or even 'Tower of Pisa', as 'Leaning' is not part of its name)? [Submitted in accordance with my Italian partner's wishes.]
