This was the first multiple choice quiz we released, back in 2019. Revisiting now, I realize it was WAY too hard. With this latest revision, I hope it will be more acceptable.

Nice!!

My thoughts on improvements for this format:

1) the quiz is too 'long' in the sense that graphically it could be more 'compact' (so maybe less spacing between questions and answers, somewhat smaller font? or have the 4 possible answers in the same row when they aren't too long?)

2) it would be nice if you could answer with the keyboard (with keys 1-4 and have automatic scrolling down after you answer)

3) at the end of the quiz you should be allowed to see extra information about the possible choices (eg for question 1 show the population of all 4 possible answers)

I love having a new format for a change of pace. Also it may be easier for someone with a physical disability or who for any reason can't type quickly enough for other quizzes. Is there a way (or will there be a way) to designate these sort of quiz so those who might be more inclined toward this type can find them more readily?

Look for multiple choice. Both as a tag, in the search box, or when you go to your profile where you can see all the quizzes, you can select genres.

It would be cool to show the number of people that pressed every answer, versus just what you pressed. Also, quizzes like this should have something in the title to show that it isn't a typing quiz.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I won't be compiling stats for user guesses because it's too complicated from a technical standpoint. Maybe in the future.

I don't want to sound arrogant or ego-centripetal, but I think that the question regarding the growth of Japan should be changed -- the options are quite vague. Otherwise, excellent quiz!

This report forms the basis for most, but not all, of the data:

If you care to contest a particular question, I would advise you to do research and post specific complaints. As far as I know the quiz is 100% accurate.

Just because the government of Turkey claims that the majority of it's population are Muslim, doesn't mean it is accurate.

I know a few Turkish people, all of which are atheists. What are the chances of meeting so many Turkish atheists if only 0.2% are apparently not Muslim?

Other polls such as Ipsos put the Islamic population as low as 85%. Chances are it is even lower than that.

+2
Level 77

Well if the people you met are non-Muslim Turks who left Turkey, it seems possible that religion might be a factor in their emigration.

I think this data comes from the Turkish government. The same with Azerbaijan, every ethnic Azeri is counted as muslim by default. However, limited public polling suggests that less than 60% of Azerbaijan population considers themselves muslims

+2
Level 68
Apr 19, 2021
Creating a religious ethnostate *in Greece*? You make it sound like it was Greece's idea to have its people kicked out of half their territory and cities that were Greek before Turks even existed!

I mean, no doubt Greece largely shares the blame for these wars, but come on!

It's hard to know how honestly people classify themselves. When I worked in Indonesia I knew many people who were not Muslims but presented as if they were to avoid unpleasant consequences. I imagine that's happening in a lot of religiously oppressive countries.

These figures aren't how people describe themselves as.

You are automatically given a religion at birth and it is what you're parents are recorded as.

Turkey doesn't recognise irreligion so won't be included in the figures. Other surveys/polls put the percentage of believers in Islam as low as 85%.

Foreigners in terms of immigrants. There are tens of millions of ethnic minorities (i.e. Zhuang, Tibetan, Mongolian, Hui, Lisu, Miao, Korean, etc.) that are not Han Chinese though. The country has a lot more diversity than the statistic would seem to indicate, especially in the south and west.

There's some interesting answers on the percentage dying in war question. Even if you got the world population question wrong, the lowest answer is 4.93 billion, 1% of which is 49.3 million people. Most estimates suggest around 60 million died in WWII - across 6 years. So unless people also think the population of the world has absolutely exploded in the five years since 2016, they must believe that year was a bloodbath without parallel. As for those that guessed 4% of the population died in wars...
+1
Level 48
Apr 19, 2021
I guess some people (including me for a few seconds) misunderstood the question as in ''What percentage of all deaths in 2016 happened due to warfare''
+1
Level 79
Apr 20, 2021
That is how I misunderstood the question. May that question should be rephrased to clarify that it's looking for the proportion of warfare deaths out of the whole world's population, rather than out of all deaths.
