Thank you! Big fan of your quizzes Scambigol! I'll keep that in mind! =)

I'm relatively new to featured quizzes so I'll keep these suggestions in mind and let Quizmaster help out as well with making recommended changes.

Pretty sure "median" is used here, that is 16 for Uganda (would be a coincidence if it was the same), median means the middle of a dataset. In everyday speech with average people mean, well "mean", adding everything up and then diving by the number of used items.

example, say in this small group of people these are the ages. 1,2,3,4,78,86,92. People wouldn't say the average age is 4 of that group, they would say the average is 38. 4 in this case is the median and 38 is the mean.

(it gives a very different view of the same group)

You're right! The source I was following was

https://www.statista.com/statistics/447643/average-age-of-the-population-in-uganda/

I completely overlooked the word "median" in the top. Thank you! =)

I didn't know that, either, but given the flag is the thumbnail wasn't too hard to guess.

I checked it out because of the question and it looks like it's the most commonly accepted name, but in Uganda itself, I think it's generally called a crested crane.

Fine quiz, I would say though I don’t think the former british coin thing is necessary as part of the currency clue. Also I would’t have anything with easily guessable numbers. It’s pretty easy in under 10 seconds to just rattle of a bunch of logical guesses

But that's a striking piece of information. If it were just something like "how many stripes are on Uganda's flag?" I'd agree with you, but the fact that the median age in Uganda is 16 is crazy. So even if it's relatively easy to guess, it's a good piece of information to learn by taking the quiz.

This should also be accepted: "His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, CBE, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular"

You could add questions about Netanyahu (Entebbe raid), Milton Obote (Idi Amin's predecessor), the marathon (Stephen Kiprotich), maybe even something about John Sentamu; I don't know many other Ugandans.

Isaac Nabwana, who makes action masterpieces like this in the slums of Kampala on almost no budget and with the help of a self-built computer, deserves a mention.

When I got to the question about the terrorist group leader, I got stuck thinking of Captain Alex and couldn't get it out of my head! If you haven't seen it or heard of it, google Who Killed Captain Alex?, Uganda's first action move produced on a budget of less than $200.

Small nitpick for the question "Median age of Uganda citizens

to the nearest year": A median age is always a whole number of years, since we don't normally measure people's ages in fractions of a year. So it isn't necessary to say "to the nearest year". It's only if you took the average age that you would need to round that number. For example, if you had to find the median age of three people aged 20, 25, and 50, then the median would be 25, without a need to round. Only if you had to find the average age, which is 31.666, would you need to round to the nearest year.

@Jfor7026 I assume you're trying to say that Onziema should be included because he is a notable human rights champion lauded internationally for his activism. He has been arrested more that once for speaking out, assaulted in jail by guards, and one of his colleagues at Sexual Minorities Uganda was assassinated. Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda and carries a maximum sentence of life in prison; oral or anal sex between anybody of any orientation is also illegal. LGBTQIA folks face constant discrimination and endangerment from the government, public and media. Onziema is a dang remarkable human. The Daily Show has an excellent piece on the topic, thank you for reminding me to watch it again.
