Peru has other colours as well in that weapon in the middle.

yes, agreed the civil flag does but more often than not it has no badge in the centre, when flown internationally, so it is included

@NQChien for some reason I can't reply to your comment, so I'll do it like this. I believe the Spanish flag is connected more to the Coat of Arms, I always see it with it unlike the Peruvian flag

The Spanish flag also has the colour yellow as a horizontal stripe in the middle, therefore it's not only present in the coat of arms.

Qatar is rather brown as red. It's the same shape as Bahrain though
+20
Level 21
Jan 16, 2015
No, it is not brown, much like the Latvian flag, it is Maroon, (Qatar's flag is actually described as burnt red) and Maroon is a shade of Red, I knew adding those two in would add some confusion to some, but Red is still Red, even if it is a very very dark shade

The flag of Latvia cannot be considered red, but rather burgundy or reddish-brown (which is a variant of red, but a little darker than the garnet color). The case of Qatar is the same. The coat of arms of Peru only appears on the state flag, so the placement of Peru in the questionnaire can be considered correct. I only disagree with Latvia and Qatar. And really, the flag of Bahrain is red and white.

Not sure I'd call the Qatari flag red, either. Unless purple also counts as a shade of red. But not difficult to guess with the pictures.

purple? Lmao really? or are you just saying that to stir things up. I can sort of see how people would look at it as brown, especially next to bright red (though I am quite sure If you put them in a group with brown things they wóuld call it red) But purple?
+2
Level 89
Mar 25, 2020
Maroon is red mixed with the blue side, not the green (or yellow if you prefer).

Just like purple.

Bottom line: Qatar or Bahrain, get your own unique flag, something that'll upstage the one who doesn't budge first.

Monacan Invasion of Sumatra

In December 2036, Indonesia invaded Singa-Malay Republic after a border dispute regarding the island of Sumatra. Negotiations were insuccessful.

Monaco, a notable ally of Singa-Malay Republic, launched two ships for a naval invasion of Sumatra from the west.

In January 2037, the United Nations became involved in the dispute. A meeting was organized, but Indonesia and Singa-Malay failed to reach an agreement again.

In March 2037, a compromise was reached giving Singa-Malay control of Aceh and Indonesia control of the remainder of the island.

However, as these compromises were finalized, the Monacan ships reached Indonesia. As the compromise was not public, the Monacan ships launched their surprise attack on Indonesia, threatening to unintentionally void the compromise.

All specifics such as names of the crew and ships were withheld. The event will be recounted using Ship 1 and Ship 2 as the two Monacan ships sent for the invasion.

+1
Level 60
Sep 6, 2023
Ship 1 was the first to sight land with Ship 2 just behind. Ship 2 was preparing to attack when they spy a ship nearby waving an Indonesian flag.

Concerned their plans were leaked to the Indonesian government, Ship 2 surprised the ship from behind and rammed them, leaving them to sink. To their dismay, they recognized the crew aboard. They realized they had rammed Ship 1.

Ship 2 could not hold everyone from both boats. However, everyone was saved, but help needed to be called. This caused the invasion to be abandoned due to losing supplies.

In the grand scheme of things, the invasion having failed was a blessing. Had the invasion happened, the compromise would likely have been voided and the war may have escalated.

(Not meant to be political - just a joke)

I'm pretty biased, but you'd think the maple leaf would be a pretty easy one! No other flag in the world has anything too similar on it. +3
Level 59
Jan 12, 2018
The quiz is clearly flags that are just red and white, with nothing else on ther flag of any other colour. Malta's flag is certainly predominantly red and white, but you can't ignore the George Cross, which is a different colour.
+2
Level 74
May 2, 2020
Furthermore, the George's cross is not a coat of arms, which would justify the flags precence in this quiz, since it is not nececary, but an honorific address given to all Maltese citicens. In a way Maltese babies are the youngest people to get a non-hereditary honorific address.

+3
Level 68
May 7, 2020
We're not a "proper" country apparently... But I agree, the England flag should count. After all, what colour flag do you see waving around when we play in the World Cup? It's not the red, white and blue Union Jack - it's the red on white cross of St George!

England is not a sovereign nation, it is one of the countries within the United Kingdom.
+3
Level 82
Oct 15, 2021
So the key criterion for being a sovereign nation is...defined by having a team in football & rugby?

This is going to revolutionise the field of international jurisprudence.

+2
Level 59
Jan 28, 2022
England is not an independent nation state. It is a constituent country within the United Kingdom. It's a favour based on sporting history that the constituent countries within the UK are able to compete in (some) sports independently.

I really wish this matter could be put to rest. Scotland is not a country, Wales is not a country, Northern Ireland and England are not countries. They are not represented independently at the UN, they do not produce their own passports. After all, why would Scotland have an independence referendum if it was an actual country?
