Would you please allow alternate spellings of Yeltsin such as Yeltzin? (or I could just remember, I always get that spelling wrong).

James Joyce didn't publish Ulysses, he wrote it. Sylvia Beach published it.

He submitted it for publication? I think it's ok as it is, like an architect or a king "built" something.

You could nitpick about Mao killing 40 million people too.

Mao killed 40 million (the number continuously grows) because his policies - particularly during the Great Leap Forward - resulted in famine. However, Kennedy/Johnson/Nixon are teflon: just because millions died of guns, bombs, and similar during the US war in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, that doesn't mean any of those deaths should stick to them. At least that's what I assume from these quizzes.

When I was in school, it was 20 million. By the time I left college, it was 30 million. Now, apparently it's 40 million.

I misspelt Nuremberg with a u, with a variety of eu/e/u combinations and I don't think they were wholly unreasonable suggestions. Could attempts such as Neuremburg be accepted?

Thanks. Really interesting quiz!

I kept on trying to spell Nuremburg "Nurenburg" or "Nurnburg"

oops

Considering that in German it's Nürnberg, that's an understandable way to try and spell it.

neuremburg doesn't make sense because in english umlauts are represented by an e after the letter but nuremberg does not have an umlaut as the german is nürnberg anyway
