The Colossus of Rhodes is one of the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World. How could you not know?

To be fair, not everybody knows all 7 wonders of the world. I know the Pyramids at Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Library of Alexandria.

Accept Vesuvius for lava-spewing mountain? I thought a particular volcano was meant. Didn't even think to put in "volcano."
+2
Level 83
Dec 24, 2015
But Vesuvius usually produces pyroclastic flows, not lava flows.
+3
Level 43
Dec 23, 2016
True, and when it says lava-spewing mountain, is Vesuvius the only one? No, so it's prompting you to be more general.

Circumferences are largest? Don't you mean circumferences are longest? Circumferences only have length, not area!
+10
Level 62
Jan 9, 2016
A circumference is a distance. Distances can be large, a word which doesn't specifically have to refer to area.
+4
Level 66
Nov 27, 2019
You say largest waistline, not longest. And that is circumference aswell.

+2
Level 69
Mar 5, 2018
Have only heard of mesas in Finnish and German (pöytävuori and Tafelberg), didn't know the English name. (Should have gotten it through Latin.) So it can be a problem for those who speak germanic or slavic etc. languages.

I knew Mesa was the Spanish term for Table, but have never heard it used in a geographical context...and I live next to a hill we call 'TableTop'!

Kaheli: ^ Not really. Tafel means table. Mesa means table. Not a great leap. And Mesa is Spanish, not English.

It's often used in the American southwest - Mesa, a city in AZ, Grand Mesa and Black Mesa in CO, Mesa Verde National Park, etc.

I recall something about the circumference of the Earth being largest several degrees lower than the equator, not actually at the equator. I understand the intent of the question but maybe something liked "assumed to be the largest circumference of the Earth"
