Is there a reason that Mongolia isn't accepted for the two-word capital category?
+20

Oct 1, 2019
It's more commonly spelled Ulaanbaatar nowadays.
+11
Level 88
Oct 1, 2019
It was always Ulan Bator. I remember it means red something which would seem to mean 2 words. Like all other Asian place names it'll be some other random spelling in a few years so there's no sense in sweating it.

"It was always Ulan Batar". A quick google will easily disprove that, and as for the rest of your comment...

Ulan Bator is the English corruption of the name

As a Mongol myself, it was not always Ulan Bator.

+1

For all we know, the population could be 4. Or trillions! Until we design people-counting robots it's impossible to be sure.

"less than 15 cm precipitation" doesn't really mean anything. I suppose it should be "an average of less than 15 cm/ m2"
+7
Level 72
Oct 5, 2019
On the contrary, precipitation is often measured by depth without explicit reference to area, such as in this article:

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_rainfall_climatology&ved=2ahUKEwjanfia-oTlAhVDQUEAHfXxCtQQFjASegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw1Z7rhjxCNWGvQ-xLdgcn2s

The quiz is quite correct.

+1
Level 65
Nov 6, 2019
Must add that it is most common to use mm (that is liters per square meter) rather than cm for precipitation measuring.
+3
Level 55
May 18, 2022
If you were to measure it per area, then it would have to be mm^3 / m^2. Otherwise the units don't make sense.

Isn't Bhutan an absolute monarchy?
+7
Level 37
Nov 6, 2019
It is technically a monarchy but the King of Bhutan has passed a law that he can be removed by the country's parliament if they find him unworthy. Hence, it's not an 'absolute' monarchy.
+5
Level 25
Nov 6, 2019
Well, Jordan has no such law, and It's not accepted, despite there being a king who can overrule everyone else and do what he wants.

Not sure what Jetpunk convention is these days, but a note that Tel Aviv (two words) isn't considered the capital of Israel might be nice.
+3
Level 60
Jun 3, 2020
Well, why should there be a note saying that city that is not a capital is not considered to be a capital? Seems a little redundant to me.
+2
Level 60

Not really fan of the NATO and equator questions. This type of quiz implies, that there should be more than one correct answer, so having question with only one seems off to me.

Hà Nội is the Vietnamese capital that is also two words.

+2
Level 28
Nov 14, 2021
@QuizAPe detkoei is right. North Korea isn't a monarchy because Kim Jong-Un, the ruler of the country, isn't a king, emir, sultan, etc. He is a supreme leader.

Isn't "Ulan Bataar" (Mongolia) a two word capital in asia?
+2
Level 68
Jan 18, 2022
Ulaanbaatar is the official name of the capital, and used more often. Ulan Bator is the Anglicized version, but generally is not used on JetPunk.

You should add Pakistan to "Has territorial disputes with China". India, Pakistan, and China claim the land where they're very close to meet.

Nov 26, 2021
Kashmir, and yes I agree with you.
+1
Level 68
Jan 18, 2022
According to this Wikipedia article, the last territorial disputes between China and Pakistan were resolved in 1963, so unless a new dispute rose up recently, I don't think there is a territorial dispute between China and Pakistan. There are, though, of course disputes between China and India, and Pakistan and India.
