Grand fun! I wonder who named Bird's head?

I'm not sure who named it, but it refers to the northeastern end of the island of New Guinea, which is often called the Bird's Head for reasons that become obvious upon looking at it.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve always thought that New Guinea was shaped like a turtle.

What's the source for this? I did plate tectonics for my career, but haven't heard of a number of these.

It's a little bit of guesswork as to what minor plates to include, so I sourced a bunch of other material as well, but this was my starting point.

One of the more impressive quizzes. Well done. Just when you think you don't know anything, you take a quiz like this and realize you know even less.

'Burmese' didn't work for the 'Burma' tectonic plate. But then again, it was just a guess, so I don't feel I deserve that one anyway.

Interesting how australia's one, looks just like a stretched australia (I know so does africa, but that is less interesting to me, I guess because I was already aware of that)

Thank you and bravo for this fantastic quiz ! It's been a while since I wanted to create a similar quiz, but unfortunately I don't have the computer skills to create a map like this, so I allowed myself to translate it into French, I hope you agree , if not tell me and I will delete

Sunda and New Hebrides plate really should be on the map since they are clasified as minor plates (just like Nazca and Arabian). I dont get it why you included some of the microplates yet not all minor plates. So if you want to go with microplates add them all or remove them. There is no point in having Easter Island plate if you dont have Tonga, Adriatic, Okinawa, Kermadec and many other microplates.
