You should also allow Meaux for the mustard question. That's the good stuff.

Moutarde de Meaux is the famous one in France itself. It's higher quality and more expensive - and it's old fashioned grainy-style mustard which sells much less well in e.g. USA and UK. But it happens to have five letters.

Everybody in France would link mustard to Dijon, definitely not Meaux.

Wasted a lot of time guessing 5-letter Italian cities that might have been the birthplace of espresso, before reading the question properly. Doh!

When was the last time you used shire then (not including in a county name as they're old words that just haven't changed.)

Daily! It's very common in Australia.

It's in pretty common use in some phrases, e.g. "the shires". Then it depends a bit on the county - some have a "shire hall" etc. It's a much less common word than county, but there's nothing archaic about it.

Just because it isn't in regular use in the US, does not make it archaic. In Australia, the county is a fairly archaic expression, but I wouldn't presume that to be globally the case.

Yep. I'm an Australian who lives in a shire, with a Shire Council (although the CEO of the Shire is no longer called the Shire Clerk, but now called the General Manager). The word Shire is used for a majority of local government areas here that don't have city status.

3 basic level of local government in Australia are City, Town and Shire. Here in Western Australia we have 144 local governments, 105 of which are shires

I think you should change the Muhammad one to "They city where Muhammad was born." I was confused if it was asking for the country. I know it was obvious that it was Mecca but still, just to make it a bit more clear.

That confused me, too, at first. I couldn't figure out how to make the country into five letters. I think because the first question asked for a country my mind was already going there. Silly mind.

The question should be more specific- I thought it was referring to my friend Muhammad from elementary school in Fargo North Dakota

Very confused

Good quiz! But I would question including the magma question. More of a geology question than a geography one.

I guess the question about the Amish is technically correct, as most Amish currently live in the United States. However, the Amish did not originate there. The Amish movement began in Switerland and Alsace in the 17th century, as a group that split from the Mennonites of the region. They are named after their initial leader, Jakob Ammann.

Sad that Delhi is so infamous for its pollution, although it's definitely true. I feel like I used to hear about Beijing being the most polluted city on the planet as a kid, but the attention has definitely shifted to Delhi in recent years.

Shire is definitely not an archaic word and is used very frequently in a lot of English speaking countries i.e. here in Australia. The wording of that question needs to be changed.
