I've never had a desire to go to Pittsburgh because I've heard it's a filthy city and yet that picture makes it look like somewhere you'd want to vacation. San Diego, on the other hand, is a beautiful vacation destination and the picture makes it ugly and unappealing.

Pittsburgh hasn't been dirty since the steel industry disappeared. Meanwhile, San Diego is not much on notable building landmarks.

Pittsburgh has a severely underrated skyline, the country's best baseball stadium, decent food, and the Western hemisphere's tallest academic building. I don't live near there anymore, but when I did I would try to visit once every couple of years.

Pittsburgh really does look like that picture. Unlike other Rust Belt cities, the city has revitalized itself a lot since manufacturing declined. A lot of technology companies has come into the city recently (Google and Uber both have a large presence), pollution has decreased by a lot, we have several great universities, and there's a ton of great food. It's frequently ranked as one of America's most livable cities.

I have driven through the tunnel and come out to see that skyline hundreds, if not thousands of times. Pittsburgh is a lovely city and there's quite a bit to do. Don't let the industrial decline of the late twentieth century dissuade you.

Another booster for Pittsburgh. Steep hills right off the downtown, where the picture was taken from, are left out of the picture. Many more interesting bridges shooting across the rivers right at that downtown, interesting modern and older architecture, good food...

Not nearly enough love for Austin. 'Tis an excellent city.

Tough picture. You have to recognize the capitol and determine that its not Washington or Madison, WI.

Are those really the only other places in the U.S. with domed capital buildings?

Nope. Harrisburg has a domed capitol.

34 states have or had capitols with domes. There are also city courthouses with domes - the Old Courthouse in St. Louis often shows up in city photos with the arch in the background.

Same here. I've been to LA and I don't remember such tall, snowy mountains in the background.

The skyline of LA is extremely recognizable so this is still your fault, not the picture lol

Well, I know their motto is "Keep Austin Weird." This certainly helps with that...

The photo must have been reflecting a beautiful sunset. The color almost fooled me until I saw the capitol and the "owl building", although at that angle it doesn't look very owlish.

I correctly guessed Austin, based largely on the color palette (and also maybe on some subconscious recognition from a brief visit to Austin 6 or 7 years ago). Seems like a very SXSW color scheme.

Strictly speaking, Clear Lake is a community not a township. So, strictly speaking, Johnson Space Center is in Houston city proper. I lived across from JSC for a few years, my address was Houston.

I don't understand the negative comments about the Los Angeles photo. The Hollywood Hills in the foreground REALLY ARE right behind Downtown LA, the San Gabriel Mountains in the background REALLY ARE only 20 miles away. The highest peaks in the San Gabriels are around 10,000 feet tall, so when the sky clears after winter rainstorms, the mountains in the north are a gorgeous snow-capped wall that you can see from many places around the LA Basin.
