Jul 5, 2018
Agreed. You don't have to type "golfing" when the answer is "golf" or "basketballing" whent the answer is "basketball"...
+18
Level 60
Jul 5, 2018
But if you know surf, you know surfing, and if surf isn't accepted, it's not gonna hurt you to type three extra letters. The sport is referred to as surfing, not surf. Golf and basketball are golf and basketball, but surfing is surfing, just like curling, bowling, and fencing.

+1

yeah but when first produced it was simply a Volkwagen no distinction between manufacturer and model name. When the commercial vehicle was introduced it was called the Type 2 and so the 'Beetle' became the Type 1.

Can we have "Spectrum" be acceptable for colors of the rainbow? I thought of it as the light spectrum, which is basically what it is when viewed through a prism. A rainbow is a large form of viewing the spectrum.

I did commit a typo putting Pessah, but anyways, since Passover is also called Pesakh, Pesach or Pesah, I think it should all be accepted. I don't know if the typo was the problem or the Hebrew name is not included at all.

I never know how to spell Bethlemhemhemlelm aaaaaaa
+1
Level 66
Dec 23, 2018
Remembering things in their syllables helps. Beth-le-hem. Hem reminds of heim which means home. Bethlehem means house of bread (just looked that part up, interesting to know). Nothing to do with the memory aid of heim-home above. Because (as I ve just learned) bet=house and lékhem=bread

Except that it's not. the correct answer is either just Volkswagen or Volkswagen Type 1. Beetle was not the official name of the car any more than Bug was.

+5

+1
Level 64
Dec 21, 2023
"kama" is not related to "karma". It means pleasure and desire (including sexual, but that's only a small part of it). "sutra" means literally a thread, and figuratively a text (like we talk about the thread of an argument). So the Kama Sutra is the text about pleasure.
