All dots are the same size! They're not scaled by population.

Hmm, I made all the dots the same size though, perhaps it's something specific to your browser?

Edit: I manually went through and fixed all circles to be of radius 4, hopefully this has fixed your issue?

"Near Chicago"?

Chicago is the focus point, all cities are within 1500km of it. Might not be near per se, but all the nearest cities over 800k population are possible.

Come on now people. There are no actual cities that close to Chicago. This range is pretty much what I was expecting, as much as I would've loved a Chicago burbs quiz (I live in Evanston)

Great Quiz Stewart👍

Got only 7 which I didn't expected either considering the tiny cities of Buffalo 😅 but still pretty challenging

I like how Americans consider 1500 km "near".

That's like me saying Kiev is "near" Zurich.

We don't consider 1500 km "near." This quiz was written was not written by "Americans." It was written by one person, who is obviously using the word "near" very liberally because the quiz would be no fun if you had to name cities within 100 km of Chicago because nobody knows what those cities are. Seems like he just picked a big city in the centralish part of the US to use as a centerpoint.

Exactly right. Chicago was picked for it's centralish location and it's a big city. 1500 km was chosen to ensure enough "known" cities are within the range. The word "near" is used simply as a branding, so that quizzes in the series are easily identifiable, rather than saying "within 1500km of" in the title, which is clunky.

10-15 hours is still considered drivable by most Americans, although it would be a "trip". 2 drivers can do it in a day. I've heard Belgians describe a 30-minute drive as "too far".

We are about a 12-hour drive from both of our daughters (in opposite directions) and my husband easily makes it to one of their homes in a day while I serve as navigator - but then again, he drove 8000 miles in three weeks (with several days of stopover in places) around the western US to celebrate his retirement, so a 12-hour drive is a piece of cake for him. When one of our daughters lived in Phoenix we made several trips from Austin to Phoenix in a day always stopping at the boot outlet in El Paso and sometimes crossing over to Ciudad Juarez - that's a long trip through west Texas - but the farthest we've gone in a day is around 1100 miles from Salt Lake City to past St Joseph, MO and that included stopping for an hour to hike a trail in Wyoming. Our kids call him a driving machine. He'd much rather drive than fly, but he avoids cities when at all possible and he doesn't drive (much) over the speed limit - although for some reason he seems to make better time when I'm napping...

I've taken 10-15 hour drives in a single day solo many times. Though sometimes at the speeds I was going I managed to cut that time down by about a third. I don't think I could make it from Zurich to Kiev in a day especially given the bad roads in some parts of Eastern Europe but I've done similar distances before. Got from Youngstown, OH to Cheyenne, WY in a day once. That's about the same distance as between Zurich and Kiev.

Good quiz, but Jacksonville and Denver aren't as close to Chicago as maybe Indianapolis, Milwaukee, St. Louis and Des Moines. Maybe you should put those cities in there, Good Job!
