Surprises in the order, maybe. Surprises in which states make up the list? No.

No real surprises for me...I got nine correct answers without a single wrong guess. I then guessed North Dakota and Arkansas before getting the final correct answer (Ohio).

Nothing really shocking, except South Dakota. I thought they had too few people to grow that much.

It doesn't require many people to grow crops...and they need to do something with all that land

Funny how the state with a collegiate program categorized by corn is only 3rd.

Spend all their time husking, not enough time growing.

Corn is only growable at extreme quantities for only the easternmost 100 miles or so of Nebraska. The rest of the state is to dry and is mainly wheat fields and cattle ranching

This is common knowledge.

For most Americans, this is probably not common knowledge. Being from the Midwest, I knew this, and people in Nebraska probably know this. But some random bank teller in San Francisco probably doesn't know what portion of Nebraska can grow corn, haha.

initially surprised by oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain, but apparently that plain is not filled with corn. I note in the source it is 27th. Also the source does not give figures for Alaska and Hawaii but I'm guessing those two are bottom of the list anyway.

Before you know it, we'll be growing most of the nation's corn in Alaska and buying winter vacation homes in warm, sunny Iowa.
