I had a feeling that the last one would be tricky. I started doing Appalachian states until it dawned on me at the last minute.

For comparison, the highest Appalachian state is West Virginia, all the way down at 1500 feet (460 m).

I think I can give a better example... The tallest peak in the Appalachians is Mount Mitchell with an elevation of 2,037 metres (6,684 ft), which is lower than the average elevation of both Colorado and Wyoming as a whole.
