I love the idea. I made a few mistakes which I regret. Could you clarify that the "planned by" question is asking for a person?

I didn't find it at all clear. I immediately chose Britain.

It says ‘which was planned, in part, by…’. That’s not remotely clear. I also immediately chose Great Britain.

Oh, I see what you mean now. I suppose something like, “where the poorly planned landing was largely blamed on…” could work. It’ll be up to Quizmaster though. :)

I don't think that helps, sorry. The problem is that it's quite common to speak of military operations like this being planned by countries (e.g. "The invasion of Iraq was jointly planned by the US and UK"). Framing it as a question of blame still leaves open the possibility that the answer could be a country.

It needs to be clear in the wording that you're looking for an individual. So it would need to be something like "which, in his capacity as Prime Minister, was planned in part by..." Even though that gives a pretty huge clue to the answer.

Fair points. But he wasn’t PM until WWII. He was Lord of the Admiralty at that time. “where the Lord of the Admiralty who oversaw the attack was…” could work. A bit wordy though.

Could you make the congo question easier? maybe "The Kinshasa one is the ______ Republic of the Congo?"
+4
Level 77
Apr 18, 2023
If someone knows the capital of the DRC is Kinshasa, then wouldn't one also know it is the larger portion?
+3
Level 92
Apr 25, 2023
It took me a while to parse what you meant by portion, maybe something like "the larger republic of which is called..." could help get people on the same page.

I feel the Olympia questions stand out as disconnected, since George didn't have a capital city, and it's a different location from the next usage. It requires additional (albeit easy) logical steps.

I actually ended up making most of the quizzes in the series use these tangential leaps in logic. I suppose it’s quite different to use literal connections to the previous answer for the whole quiz except for one question.

The "who lost a 1776 war against..." comment feels a little off. The war started in 1775 and ended in 1783. 1776 is in there, and is when the United States declared independence, but it seems off to call it a 1776 war.
