Blue Ridge Parkway is considered a park of sorts. It is considered a "linear park". It connects two national parks: Smokey Mts. and Shenandoah. It has amazing scenery and lots of places to pull off and stop in your car. So, yes, it is basically a park and that's why it's called a parkway.

I was wondering the same thing. According to Wikipedia, Coney Island restaurants are a popular type of restaurant in that region. The restaurants took their name from Coney Island in New York because Coney Island was associated with hot dogs, and then they ended up giving their name to a specific kind of hot dog.

anasset -- I also guessed NY, then NJ, then gave up. What's really sad - I'm from Michigan!!!! I didn't know we originated them! LOL. What a sad start to my day.

And why when an alarm "goes off" does it actually come on? But then after it "goes off", one turns if off again to reverse the action.

Why when a light is out, it is dark; but when the sun is out, it is light?

Where is the ham in a hamburger and where does the ham go when one adds cheese (i.e. cheeseburger)?

If a teacher teaches and a baker bakes, does a finger fing? Or does a hammer hamm?

Why do Buick and quick not rhyme?

Why do people commonly state something like: "My eye is RED. I think I have PINK eye"? Shouldn't it be called "red eye"?

You wouldn't know that from living in Illinois. We are effectively two states. Chicago, and everything south of I-80. The weird thing is that our capital is in the state of "South of I-80" yet they apparently work for the state of Chicago.

How so? It is a distinctly Michigan food and they are called Coney Island Hot Dogs all over the state.

Only reason I remembered that coke originated in Georgia, is I was in Atlanta, and went to the giant coke factory. Great place. Drinks (soda) from all over the world.

Really fun idea, but there are so many regional foods that the repetitions shouldn't be necessary. What about the states of the Pacific Northwest, Southwest, Great Plains, New England, or Alaska?
