Not municipality exactly, but a village: Villa Rica de la Vera Cruz (Rich Village of the True Cross).

Also, it was the preferred port for everything that came from the Atlantic, which (sadly) also included every single invasion or attempt of invasion to Mexico... So, yeah, Veracruz has a colorful militar history.

Yes angro - very exactly, including the appointment of a town council and a mayor. Hernan Cortes did it to confer a legalistic independence on his expedition.

I typed Nimitz as well, hoping he had somehow led Germany for 23 days after Hitler died. :(

Well, if MacArthur could have "led" Japan (as a leader of the occupational forces), it isn't that far fetched, at least in theory. ;-)

To lead, tomorrow I lead, yesterday I led. Lead is either not the past tense of "to lead", or a heavy metal. E.g., the man who led Germany was not Fred Durst. Lead is not an alternate spelling for led.

But ‘led’ is an alternative for ‘lead’ when we’re discussing Led Zeppelin. They decided to remove the ‘a’ so people wouldn’t pronounce it “leed zeppelin.”
