I enjoy going thru and read the explanations after these multiple choice quizzes. Was surprised by the Jericho question, as our blessed and most holy Quizmaster generally avoids mentioning Palestine; instead favoring the sovereign nation it's contained within - Israel.

Palestine is closer to being a sovereign nation than French Polynesia is!

America doesn't recognize Taiwan, yet this site does (Not saying that's a bad thing, btw). Quizmaster just does what he wants

We go by defacto reality rather than international recognition. I get angry emails all the time. It's fun.

For the record, I'm sure that far more than 62% of people know that the speed of light is 300,000 km/s. The other 38%, like me, didn't read the whole question and didn't notice the sneaky "per hour" at the end.

Yes, very sneaky. Luckily I saw this and answered correct - unlike the 40% that didn't.

Ironically enough, as a physics student I'm used to seeing everything in metres/second, so I put down the answer as false because I saw it in kilometres, and still got it right :P

Ohh, that's why I got it right too. I was thinking "No, it's 3x10^8, not 3x10^5". Didn't even realise it was kilometres or hours.

Just missed the kosher one, something about them crawling along the sea floor right?

Lobsters are shellfish, which is why they're not kosher. According to the Torah, you are only permitted to eat fish that have "both fins and scales to be eaten".

I'm pretty sure that Notre Dame no longer has flying buttresses, or anything strictural. It burnt down.

Not really, only the wooden roof burnt down, and other than the spire, the rest held on (which is something you can easily google, before spreading false information with such sureness). In fact, it did so largely *because* of the flying buttresses.

.... Also, it's "structural".

Perhaps because as far as they are concerned it has nothing to do with their daily lives. I got 5/5, but that one I had to completely guess at. Not saying it's not relevant, but I've never needed to know it, and I have trouble remembering figures.
