Great! The whole time I was stuck on alm when R-alm hit me! Got 13 in the end, ashamed to miss League, Control, Explain, and Pregnant. I kept guessing Prague, perhaps it could be accepted?

I could shake off prague easily but couldnt get Montague out of my head when looking at that one, so focused on the others, after pl-. After a while I did get v- (not to give spoilers for people that scan for answers)

Excellent quiz, once again. It's funny how the mind works. I got some right away, like "fjord". But then if I didn't get it right away it took a long time to figure it out.

Got 21. It's also really fun to see if you get those others do or if you get there "rare" ones. At least one of the -plain words should get near 100%. We do it all the time on JetPunk too.

Loved this quiz! As a non-native speaker, quizzes like this are the best as they truly provide a challenge and help me learn (or force me to revisit frantically what I alreayd know :)). Thanks!

I may not be a native English speaker, but I never, ever saw the third -ispe word before that quiz. Somebody could tell me on what instance I should use that word instead of "wander"?
+2
Level 68
Dec 18, 2016
Walking or trudging wearily or reluctantly. As in "I had to traipse around the shops with my mum".
+1
Level 60

I, personally, think "trudge" is a much better word for that. The other meaning of "traipse" -- "walk about casually or needlessly" -- is more common in my experience. Yamaneko, "traipse" often has a connotation of mild irritation that "wander" doesn't.

If I say "people have been wandering into the store all day," that seems to be a more or less value-neutral statement.

If I say "people have been traipsing into the store all day," I'm probably kind of annoyed.

Traipse has a negative connotation. Like waltzing in, a different feel than walking (and not wandering, cause that is usually rather aimlessly, either carefree or lost).

I would say it is often with a disregard (sometimes disrespect) for others and the stuff around them. Likely (not on purpose) to knock stuff over or make the place dirty, because they don't care (or realize) and are not elegant.

But I could have the wrong Idea about it, because when looking it up, a lot of sources talk about being tired and dragging your feet. (But then again, my explanation does seem to match up with LyriKH's comment below and wiktionairy)

Great quiz! Managed to get 'em all with 56 sec left. Chaplain was the last one I got. As for people talking about traipsing, I remember my mum using the word, as in "Don't traipse through the house with your muddy shoes on!"

18/27 not tooo bad for a non native speaker, since it beats 80% of the quiz takers. But still bummed about several I missed. I dont think I would ve come up with chaplain (not religious) or traipse (have heard of it, but never had to use it in real life).

Others I missed, in descending order starting with the most likely to have guessed with more time: Eclipse, petrol(both similar to an other), league, rivalry (similar feel as the other two), pregnant, sword (silent w, and no sw words in my language) , stagnant (not often used).
