Great Quiz. May I suggest to correct some minor french mistakes? I would write Tatre AméricainE, since tarte is a feminine word. Nous SommeS le Monde needs an S, Dimanche Sanglant Dimanche, without the E, and if everything must be said, I would advice to put Pluie before Pourpre (Pluie Pourpre) and spell Sauvez (in Dieu Sauver la Reine) with a "Z" as it is somewhat an order given to God through a prayer. Also, I would change "à" for "pour" or "vers" (Train de Minuit POUR la Géorgie/VERS la Géorgie). Otherwise, good job, especially if you are not french.

Thanks for the help! I took all your suggestions. I used Google Translate, which explains most of the mistakes. (Nous Somme was probably my fault - can't imagine Google would have screwed that one up).

In French we address God with the 'tu' form like any father, so it would be Dieu sauve la reine (song titles only have the first word capitalized in French). Also you need "Les" in "Les grandes filles ne pleurent pas" and "de" to "des" in "Au revoir route des briques jaunes",

I actually disagree with the Yellow Brick Road comment. You should change it back to "de", which means that the road is actually made of yellow bricks. As opposed to "des", which sounds more like Yellow Brick is the name of the road (as in Cypress Road, or Sunset Road, or whatever).

It doesn't really matter, because it works either way. It's name is the Yellow Brick Road, but it is also a road made of yellow bricks. So they both work!

Surely the translation of 'mo' in 'mo money mo problems' should be 'pl'.

The locution "plus de" is ambiguous. If you pronounce the s, it means "more", if you don't pronouce it, it means "no more". And if you read it, you never know (which is why I missed it the first time because I don't know that song).
+1
Level 74

Which is why, when writing, editors in French will tell you to use "davantage de" for the "more" meaning of "plus".

Funny, though some of the titles really don't sound well in French. I just have two more suggestions to make. "Big girls don't cry" needs an article in french, so "Les grandes filles ne pleurent pas". In French, "pourpre" is rather a purplish red color, the appropriate word would be "violet", so the title would be "Pluie violette".

For anyone seeking a challenge, I recommend taking quizzes on explorer. The ads break up typing and provides a fantastic obstacle to completing anything efficiently.

Yeah, sorry about that. Internet Explorer is a lost cause. It's nearly impossible to test and causes all sorts of problems that don't occur with other browsers. I think, maybe, the new Microsoft Edge browser might be okay.

And also, sorry if the ads are disruptive. We really do keep them down to a minimum. We have two ads on the page. Some sites have more than 20! We also barely make any money off the site as is.

Level 55

Two ads aren't bad at all! I only ever have a problem with them when it's one of those that plays a video; it does make the cursor lag a bit, but it's certainly a minor thing. Thanks for all you do for the site--I know we all appreciate it!

I have no problems at all with the ads on my laptop. On my phone however it often overlaps the quiz (like 10% of the time) so the first 3 or four questions I cant read.

@MrMagoo, I have found that to be quite a good challenge myself, which is why I almost always use Chrome. Microsoft Edge isn't too bad. Still has a weird thing where the screen refreshes every minute or so and clears the typing space, so that's also a good challenge if anyone wants one. It's especially challenging if you don't realize the cursor isn't in the box and keep typing for a good several seconds anyway, because then you get the fun of typing it all again!

Often my cursor is not in the box, it takes nearly a minute of every quiz for me ( well not the small ones) But it "my own fault" because it happens when I scroll. It is very annoying though... And I dont allways realize the cursor isnt there...

Me too. It's annoying. I tried turning them off. But then our already meager earnings dropped by 50%. You'd be surprised how little JetPunk actually makes. It's more a labor of love than anything else since I can easily be spending my time more profitably elsewhere.

Fun quizz! And as a French speaker I can confirm that the French is good as it is now. Only remaining mistake that needs correcting: Georgia needs to be capitalized. Although that other poster was right about song titles only having the first word in capitals, proper nouns are of course an exception to that and need to retain their capital.

Got "Lapin Blanc" thanks to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, where Irina tells Ricky Tarr of that Victorov's (aka Polyakov) driver in the Russian Embassy in London goes by the code name "Lapin", which unbeknownst to him was French for rabbit. Other than that, I completely crashed and burned on this quiz.

and i couldnt get passed journey for journée. Tried trip journey but gave up because thought there could be too many variations.. (I know jour is day, but didnt recognise journée)

and yea like I mentioned above, minuit made me think of minute or small (minúte)

Derrière. I couldn't think of any song with butt in the title.

Now I understand that it's just the polite word for it, like how you say 'behind' in English. Cause I always thought derrière just meant butt.
