That's what I thought when they released "Captain America: The First Avenger" He wasn't even one of the founding members! Course, I also still laugh that 2 of the original members are known for smashing things, and 2 were bugs to be smashed...
Accept Henry Pym and/or his various alias - Yellowjacket, Giant-Man and Goliath. He was one of the original members but depending on the direction of his character he was either huge (Giant-Man or Goliath) or tiny (Ant-Man, Yellowjacket or Wasp). Although the original Ant-Man, with the Avengers that code name is associated with other characters. And Wasp is more associated with his ex-wife.
I think he's assuming the Ant-Man on the quiz is Henry Pym who was the original Ant Man. I don't know who Scott Lang is but I'm assuming someone different who later assumed the name Ant-Man. Sort of like there have been several different Flashes, Robins, and Green Lanterns? Hardcore fans count them all as separate characters.
Now I guess the average person is going to be much more familiar with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) than Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Previous comment made before the movies came out.
Weird Quake is so low considering she is in Agents of Shield, although admittedly she only gets her powers in the second half of season 2 so most people probably know her as Skye.
Keep watching, @kenpo17! ~~•~~ Also, to be fair – IIRC from the comics, Quake really only just did the one gig with the Avengers, and wasn't there some sort of big misunderstanding? Like Quake told them, "Hey, thanks for inviting me to join, but no thanks, this is just a one-off thing," and the Avengers were like, "Oh, no, dude – this actually *wasn't* an invitation to join long-term!" at which point Quake naturally comes back with, "Oh yeah? Well, I didn't WANT to join your stupid Avengers anyway! So there!" Typical superhero drama :-)
26/100, a strong F by standard grading terms but beats 80% of people using the curve. The comics have a great place in history but all the Marvel and DC movies are eye candy garbage.
There are multiple Powermen. Also, if we accepted Luke Cage we'd have to accept all the real names which would get really messy given the complexity of the source material.
Yeah, this quiz is not based on the MCU, but the comics (or possibly the union of the two? Although I can't think of any movie Avengers that were not so in the comics).
So sad is the outrage that DC ever "copied" Marvel by having a Captain Marvel character. Sad that a character created in 1940 is unknown to so many people, who only know him as Shazam.
You should accept Gilgamesh for The Forgotten One - it was the name he went by when he was in the Avengers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgotten_One_(comics)
Why is everyone a captain? No colonels, no majors, no commanders, no privates... they should recruit General Disarray from South Park for a little diversity. Then maybe get Colonel Sanders on the team. Major Payne. Admiral Ackbar. Sergeant Slaughter. Otherwise there's not going to be any useful chain of command.
this goes by the comics not the movies, but even in the movies... they were really just allies fighting alongside the Avengers, not actual Avengers. I mean.... Wong and all the wizards, all the Asgardians and the valkyries, the Ravagers, etc.. they were in that battle, too, and they weren't Avengers.
Okay, I’m a little confused now. Is this quiz supposed to include other Avengers incarnations (e.g. Young, Secret, New, West Coast, etc.)? For instance, I don’t remember Hulkling or Wiccan ever being in anything other than the Young Avengers, and I don’t see Speed (Wiccan’s twin brother and also definitely a Young Avenger) in there at all. There were other characters I was skeptical about too – some missing, some that shouldn’t be on the list in the first place – but I’d figure out I should ask who’s supposed to be on it before kvetching too much!
I suspect that the Wikipedia list is probably pretty bad...
Apparently they just let anyone in these days. I missed more than half and of those I've missed I've heard of maybe five. Is Demolition Man the character played by Sylvester Stallone? And is Doorman the same character from The Tick? His Doorman powers allow him to detect unwanted guests at the Comet Club, such as sidekicks.
I was dredging the depths of my memory to get the Great Lakes Avengers, and then just ran out of steam with about 60 still to go, so I gave up. The realised that I had missed the Hulk!! Aargh!!
Agent 13 should be acceptable for Sharon Carter. Also, while real names are generally not used for practical purposes, Power Man is more commonly known as Luke Cage.
Great quiz, though. 53/78. There are some heroes on there I've never heard of!
second antman (scott lang)
echo among others
Amadeus Cho is another version of the Hulk.
