I know a certian site that rhymes with Forkle that might disagree, but JetPunk considers Cyprus to be an Asian country due to proximity to the continent despite its membership in the EU, borders with UK military bases, and other connections it may have with European countries.
Given that the distinction between Europe and Asia is wholly cultural, it doesn't make sense to place Cyprus (or the Caucusus countries, for that matter) in Asia
The separation between Europe and Asia is almost entirely geographic, not cultural. Although there might be (major) cultural differences, the separation is based largely on watershed, and specifically the Ural and Caucasus mountains. That 'line' is continued through the Bosporus, and the Aegean. The 'line' continues through (the Suez Canal and) the Red Sea to separate Asia from Africa. Cyprus is generally considered to be geographically in Asia due to its proximity to mainland Turkey (Asia) and the fact that Cyprus is well east of the westernmost edges of Turkey (Asia) and Sinai (Asia). Culturally and economically, Cyrpus is much more aligned with Europe than it is with Asia.
Cyprus is obviously Asian because it's somewhat closer to Turkey, just as Trinidad and Tobago, which you can piss on from Venezuela, is obviously North American. Welcome to Jetpunk.
Trust me it makes a big difference. For example, trying to figure out if that's a "b" or a "d" throws me. I know how the word is supposed to be spelled, but I'm not always sure that I have the letters necessary to spell it. At least you know what you have to work with before you start trying to put the letters together to form the answer. The scrambling is not the problem. At least that's how it works for me.
Never seen Sri Lanka, Asian country too.
